T68 & Bluetooth Connectivity Help Needed... |

Hi Guys,
I need a little bit of help. I have a T68 and a Sony Vaio notebook and a TDK USB Bluetooth Adaptor. But I can't seem to get the Ericsson software to work properly.
When I installed the Bluetooth software from TDK, it went well and I can pair the phone to notebook. I can even use the Bluetooth software to syncronise my phone numbers.
When I try to use Ericsson software however, the troubles begin. The ericsson software does not identify that a phone is connected. I downloaded it from the Ericsson homepage, under T68 section. I read that some of you have a T68 but downloaded the T66 version of the software. Is there any advantage to that? Am I doing something wrong?
Any advice would be greatfully recieved. Thanks in advance!

Hi Joseph 
First : The software package we use is the "full version for outlook" and its for the T-65 phone.
This gives features like: sms in outlook, edit contacts and some more.
Another thing could be the TDK bluetooth adapter,..do you have the right drivers for it.
If you're using win-XP, you would need to use XP-bluetooth-drivers from TDK. Do you have those ?
It might not mean a lot, but you might also loose some functions and it might not work correctly. There are different opinions on this subject.
Someone said in an earlier post, that the ericsson software doesnt support Win XP. At least, not yet.
For some people this software works great, and for some it dont ??? You could also try the "SEARCH" option here on Esato-forum, search for "synchronization". There are some posts on this subject.

it makes we wonder if the ericsson software is fully BT compatible
it never mentions anyuthing about bluetooth, all it says in the error is make sure the IR port is blocked, and make sure the cable is plugged in correctly. |

the most important thing when trying to use the ericsson software is making sure the ports are set up correctly in MPM in the control panel. You have to create a virtual serial port for your bluetooth connection and then set the MPM to scan on that port. The TDK software does not require this as it can scan for bluetooth devices directly. Ericsson software only works through a real or virtual com port so it can function similarly over serial, usb, irnfra-red and bluetooth connections.

by the way, i have been using windows xp since i got the T68 and never had problems related to MPM. i use Ir, cable, and bluetooth (anycom and msi) on my notebook.
Hello, I found that these info is not enough for me to start to use the bluetooth function. Anyone can give more detail on this ? I found that my msi bluetooth software do not allow me to change the port setting. It will only connect to com 3. I wonder where can I change the port.

MSI uses widcomm software, you will have a \"My bluetooth places\" icon. If you go there and use \"Add bluetooth place\" it will let you set up a connection to either com1 or com2 on your T68, I i think it will then let you choose which com port to use at the pc end, mine are on 5 and 6, if these peorts are enabled in MPM, and the phone is discoverable, then MPM should create the com port connection and detect the phone, it sometimes takes quite a while. When there is a connection you get <> on the phone display and the led flashes more frequently. If necessary you can manually connect the com port before trying MPM.

can I know what is a MPM? is that mean Phone Monitor Options in control panel ?
IF it is phone monitor options do that mean I need to enable com 5 and 6 in the COM Ports setting ? Do I need to set it to reserved?

Yes MPM is Mobile Phone Monitor, it is the core componant of the ericsson software. With mpm the other software does not have to worry about how the phone is connected as mpm will take care of it. You need to enable the ports where there is a bluetooth serial port set up, only reserve ports that only mpm needs to acces. if you have a serial port set up in \"my bluetooth places\" right click it and look at the properties to see which port it is using then enable that port in mpm

Hi
now I know what is MPM. Now I already have property in Mobile Phone and Sim Cards.
Now what should I do to start use christersson.org SendFile and SonyEricsson Image Editor these program ?
It say no phone connect.
I already installed Package 5 which include MPM. Is it that I need to install package 4 to let things work ? |

hmm, i don't know, sendfile and mypicture both use mpm, so if the phone is detected there it ought to work, make sure it is still discoverable, when mpm is being used a phone icon should appear in the tray, when the phone is detected this icon gets a green tick, see what is happening on your computer.

hi
I pick always display the icon in the MPM setting. And it show me a black handphone with a red cross. I did all the steps I still duno what is the probelm. FEDDUP !

I had a customer with the same problem connecting his laptop through bluetooth when he purchased a bluetooth pcimca card. Some devices work with the ericsson software, others don't. He was told by AT&T customer care and ericsson tech support he would need an HP bluetooth card in order for it to work properly with their software. I know this is a dumb question, but did you try calling customer care through your provider or ericsson? |

yeah at the moment i am useing the orig ericsson software. It needs to be upgraded.
That sticky post, that you gave me a link for, is for the t68 software, and I have a t39. Is there different software?
Someone said that some USB adapters dont work with the ericsson phones? Is there a reason. BT is *meant* to be a standard. Anyone had any experience with a Tecom USB bluetooth adapter?

The  software in the sticky post will work for the T39. (PBTM, Phone settings, Modem Settings, XTND connect)
There are reports of problematic BT adapters, but there are also adapters that work. See the technical forum for BT-related discussion threads (there's a lot there!) |
