Currently undertaking a research project on Innovation. I based the innovation on Bluetooth by Ericsson. Any one point me in the direction of a good site documenting the history of this innovation? Any one know any usefull sites that can aid me in my degree thanks a million!

Cheers for that a lot of good bed reading.

I am right in assuming Ericsson were the innovators behind this technology, so do Nokia and Samsung etc etc pay SE a slice to use the feature?

No, AFAIK the other phone companies have all joined the Bluetooth SIG, which is an association of all the companies working together to develop wireless technology and incorporate it into their products.

Bluetooth was originally invented by Ericsson though, which explains why SE phones have the best Bluetooth implementation of all the companies that use Bluetooth in their products.

CSR used to have a very good history/background page on Bluetooth.

They seem to be the major Bluetooth player around these days so it might be worth sending an e-mail to their PR department

You will find them here:

Well, you'll find details on those links we provided, but basically Bluetooth came about because Ericsson wanted a safe and secure way of connectivity so that users could transfer items or whatever to each others phones, computers or notebooks.

Bluetooth was first introduced in about 1997 after being developed since about 1993, but it never made any sort of impact until the last 3 years or so.

Thats basically it, dont quote me though, im not completely sure of the dates etc.

@vx220

You may also be interested to learn that bluejacking was invented by a member here, ajack, who posted the first story about bluejacking in a famous thread here. The thread is called 'I did something naughty today'.
