Picture Projector Cameraphone from Sony Ericsson |

Sony Ericsson's head of design, Hiroshi Nakaizumi, realised that there may be a future for small camera phones that project images instead of showing them on a screen. 'Why carry around a display when you can project it onto a wall or page?' says Nakaizumi. The idea is that we select which photo or film we want
to show using a trackball on the end of the phone, then simply point it at any surface and view the projected image. The possibilities it creates are mind-boggling.

They have to work on those batteries then...
If we're supposed to "project the screen" we'll need a hell of a strong light.
Designing things is easy. Making them work is another thing...

and lets hope the person doing the projecting hasn't got the shakes or a nervous twitch. |

it would act the same as a data projector, the bulb would need replacing every so often. and do you know how fragile those bulbs are, having them jingle around in your pocket or on a lanyard would surely damage them
nice idea thouhg

Imagine it being able to project streaming video too, or live TV. |

it is a great job as it is an imagination and a concept. Thinking the reality takes me to battery, with a powerfull lamp and how will they produce the lens for pixel @ pixel

thats a very old pic. but it would be nice, but not really a must have device in my eyes.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

The lighting is a mini LED, like those found in the Flash for K700, and the connect flash for T610.
Theyre very powerful and can project for a distance of half a meter with clarity.

InFocus and Mitsubishi have announced "pocket" projectors already. They're using TexasIntrument's DLP chips with 800x600 pixels native resolution and 3 LEDs (red, green and blue) as light sources. These devices can project up to 42" images! The LEDs are last in 20,000 hours..
