Worldwide sale of handheld declined for the third year in a row, and it's going to decline further!
Consumers don't see the need to invest in pdas if a samrtphone can do the same basic tasks. Smartphones, with their increasing ability to provide Pda like functionality are clearly damaging the handheld devices market and sending vendors into scramble. A good example is Sony, killing off its CLIE handheld.

Mobile phone sales actually where very good last year, with new models coming out and many ppl upgrading their handsets.

I think He's talking about PDAs only. Not the ones with phone capabilities.

That trend should not come as a surprise to anyone. As smartphones become smarter, PDAs will just have to keep giving way.

I knew this was gonna happen. Why would someone want to keep two devices, when one can do the job of the other too?

Is a shame SE stopped the development of its only smart cellphone the Pxx series.Hopefuly they will release a P1000 or something similar early next year.In the meantime Nokia is doing the killing with the new 6680. :-)

You are right. It was announced recently by Sony that come this July, all Sony CLIE Pda line will be rest in peace.
