IVT BlueSoleil bluetooth and FMA connection |

hi there,
as we all know FMA is one of the most powerful tools for most SE phones such as K700i.
i've tried to connect my K700i to FMA, but nothing happened! i've tested FMA with IrDA and it worked well.
i'm sure that the BT dongle works perfectly, since its original software establishes connection with my phone and can do some functions such as file transfer and remote control.
i've set the BT address to the address of my phone and the port to 0 but FMA does nothing when i press connect!
sorry if i've used a wrong forum.
thnx,
Sean

I'm using FMA v2.0.0.19 with my K700i with no problems at all. Everything seems to work OK.
What OS are you using on your PC?

Are you using your dongles software (virtual com port) or the native SP2 drivers?
You only need the com port number if you use the soft that came with the dongle. The software creates a virtual com port.
If you use SP2 native stuff, then you need to insert the BT address. |

I use Widcomm software, it shows BT address, amongst other things. |

Go to my bluetooth places, install serial port. Then start fma, options, choose connect via seriall port, not using 'native bluetooth'. You'll have to select com port also, it's usually 4,5, or 6, but you can also see it in seriall port properties.

I'm using FMA with my bluetooth too with no problems. Like what most have mentioned, just make sure you defined the correct serial port for the bluetooth in FMA.
resistance is futile. |

Yup. Configuring fma to connect through the right port should make it work alright.

Using the Bluetooth Hardware Address option has never worked for me. I just select serial connection, and specify the com port assigned my K700i's virtual com port (don't use the virtual com port of the bluetooth dongle, since it is not connected to the K700i, get it?)
Then it works hunky dory. |

i'm using WinXP but i don't see any BT related icon in the control panel
also i've tried to set the serial com port instead of native bt address but it caused the FMA to hang!
also i'm using FMA 2.0.0.19

Here's a short overview on how you could do this quickly.
Pair your phone with your PC
Discover the services on your phone.
From here, you could right click on one of the two serial ports that you just discoverd and make a shortcut for your use.
In your Bluetooth neighborhood, you'll find the shortcuts you just created. Take note of the default (or you can change it to something else, and you should take note of that) COM port number and use this when you configure fMA.
That should do it.

since i have no icon in the control panel for bt, i can't do what you said! the only option that i have is a tray icon representing the original software of my bt dongle. there i can search the phone and services and connecting two virtual serial ports (COM 13 & 14). so i used them in FMA but the it hanged!
i used all com ports in FMA but none of them worked

uninstall FMA, it seems you have problem
Re-pair your phone with the computer. Test your bt dongle by doing a file transfer through obex between the K700i, both ways. Ie: send a file to the phone from computer, and to the computer from the phone. This confirms the bt dongle is definitely working, atleast for file transfer (if you already checked that then ignore this bit). If that doesn't work, then FMA won't
Now to troubleshoot, close or disable any programs running in the background besides firewall and antivirus (those too if you are not connected to the net).
Setup one com port only through the K700 services (say com13). Then uninstall FMA and delete the left over FMA program folder and contents. Then reinstall FMA, go into options and set the com port to 13 and try again! If it works, re-enable all background services re-testing FMA each time. This will help identify a software conflict, if that is the cause.
If still doesn't work, you could have a deeper software conflict, or faulty hardware (try the BT dongle in different ports, including the ones on the pc if you are using a usb hub.) Also try your bt dongle and fma on another computer if you get a chance. Then google for FMA forums and check the FMA website is none of the above helps.

It's probably worth pointing out that BT support in Windows XP is contained in SP2!
Install that and you'll be away, including the ability to use Native Bluetooth support, which is much faster than serial port emulation. |

but FMA says that it requires SP1 or later. do you mean that SP1 doesn't support BT?!
i wanna install WinXP with SP1 tomorrow to solve this problem since my current os doesn't have any service pack installed on.
