Hi I am very new just signed up as i have been going insane over my K-700i.
I purchased my K-700i in Middlesboro as I was told i could upgrade it and mess with it like I was doing with my P800.
I was told my phone came with software which it did i couldn't wait to get back to Belfast to try it out as the bloke in the T-mobile shop had said it would work with my DSS-20 Docking station woohoo I thought.
What A Croc, Like WTF am i doing wrong, I have installed the PC suite for my k-700i the PC has found my docking station but it dosen't find the phone. I am at my wits end over this, All i want to do is add games music etc to my phone and now I can't.
I have been over and over forums and they say it will work with the K-700i well show me or tell me how..lol I can't take anymore I am ready for cancelling my contract with T-Mobile as the only reason I upgraded was to have this option and now I can't do that. hopefully someone out there can shed light on what i am doing before I bin the lot..
Thanks In Advance..

Ps. Incase I have posted this in the wrong place sorry.. or its covered elsewhere Sorry again..lol told you all my heads done in over this..

I've heard tales of the computer having a fit if there is more than one PC Suite installed. Try installing only the K700 PC Suite and see what happens. |

have you checked the DSS station under the Device manager so it's properly installed? there you also see which COM port it's using |

Here are my suggestions to solve your problem:
Firstly uninstall any software supplied with both your k700i and P800.
Then go here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1&pid=10161&fid=11349&esi=true
and download these latest drivers for the synchstation. Go to device manager in WinXP and look under Ports as shown in the pic below:
Once you have done that, download the latest PC suite for the k700i here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]_1&pid=10139&fid=6995&esi=true
Give this a try then cme back and let us know what happens.
Hope this makes sense.

did that work? I've got dss20 no problems. I use FMA, which has a file upload function that I think is what you want. Install FMA, and set it to the com port that the dss20 gets (find it under device manager).
For FMA, go to http://fma.sourceforge.net/
You can also try the SE File Manager (slower than FMA) here: http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]3_3&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10139
Best of luck! |

FMA is simply the best.

For transferring files from PC to K700i and vice versa, use Hitziger's Dateimanager. For that purpose it's the best. Download it from here:
http://k700.hitziger.net/index.php?id=downloads&language=en
Some things Dateimanager can do that Float's Mobile Agent (FMA) can't (as far as I know):
• One-click multiple file transfer
• Creation of subfolder in the phone
• You can specify which folder in the K700i a file should be downloaded to. For example, you can instruct it to send MP4 files to Sounds folder (or a subfolder thereof), instead of to the Videos folder.
Warning: Do not physically disengage your phone from the pc BEFORE electronically disconnecting/turning off Dateimanager. Otherwise you'll have to ctrl-alt-del the damned program in order to shut it down. And you'll have problems reconnecting once you run it again.
Dateimanager is a bit buggy on the connection aspect (FMA is more stable) but once you become familiar with its kinks, it becomes very handy.
On the other hand, FMA can't be beat for synchronizing contacts, SMS, and bookmarks with your PC. And I use it all the time for SMSing using my PC keyboard. File transfer is one of the lesser features of FMA.
Forget about the PC suite in the K700i CD. It's even worse than Nokia's! We'll await your replies here. Cheers! |

The software that came with the K700 I thought was pretty crappy. When I installed my DSS-25 using just the driver off the SE site and FMA it worked perfectly.
As soon as I had all the SE stuff installed that came with the K700, it turned crappy. It went slow and no longer works with FMA for me. I changed a couple of settings to get the mobile monitor out of the task bar and changed them back when I wanted to use the DSS-25 to connect the phone. After I changed the settings to hide it for the first time and I put the settings back to normal and connected it back up, it never worked with the mobile monitor again so all the SE software provided was useless. I'd uninstall it if I were you. |

Agree with @KrisUK. Uninstall the K700i PC Suite from your computer. It takes up a lot of space and is pretty useless. It affects connectivity too.
Aside from the DSS-25, you can also use a Bluetooth dongle (faster than serial cables they say, though I haven't tried it), or an IR cable. |

Absolutely chili. I use bt too, the dss 20 too slow. And FMA and dateimanager are the best, for the exact reasons you pick.
I had problems with the PC suite, however the mobile monitor (needed for fma anyway) and file manager installed only (not the whole suite) does work well, although it crashes Explorer bigtime if you run it when no phone is connected!! You can download filemanager stand alone from SE.
But it's slower so there is no real point in using it, I did because it was all I had at the time and no internet connection on my network.

Ah, yeah, oops. Don't know what I was thinking of there, think I was getting mixed up with another of the ericsson suite I use. Theme creator maybe?
I stand corrected. |
