P910i bluetooth modem connection problem |

Over the last 10 days I have throughly searched the forum but can't find the solution. Please advise.
I'v successfully managed to connect P910i through cable to my laptop and am writing this post using its GPRS connection. Now I wish to make the same connection through Bluetooth.
Bluetooth is working fine for file transfer, for accessing internet on P910 opera through PC (when connected to LAN), SE PC Suite connection for installing software, etc.
Using Dial-up Networking Wizard I've made another connection icon by selecting bluetooth modem. All setting and configuartion is identical to cable connection icon, however after dialing Error 777 pops up.
Any help will be very much appreciated

i'm not gonna spoon feed you and neither am I gonna tell you to use the search feature in this forum, because I am sure this topic has been covered extensively in this forum. What I am going to do is what I call skills transfer, and show you how to fish, and not give you a fish 
Read the Reame.txt file you will find it in your programs under sonyericsson on your start menu, follow it step by step and you should be up and running with a bt connection in about 4 to 5 minutes, Good luck,
on second thoughts you won't need it luck, if you can read you sorted,

Appreciate the idea of not spoon-feeding coz by hit and trial one learns more. Now in response to your post. On my system there is no readme file in SE installation?

Please, can anyone answer the following questions:
1- On P910i in control panel under cable and infrared connection settings, there are options to enable for "PC modem connect" but in bluetooth setting there is no such option. Am I missing something?
2- On laptop and P910i, does the Bluetooth modem configuration needs to be at lower baud rate, 19200.
3- During Dial-up Networking setup should I select SE Bluetooth modem or 3COM modem?

Still can't get it working thru 3com BT PC card to P910i modem. Error 777 or 692 pops up.
With cable everything is smooth, modem internet, file transfer, etc. With bluetooth file transfer in PC connect mode is working.
It seems very finnicky |

few question i need to ask so i could understand ya problem better.
1. what kinda Operating System on ya pc?
2. did u installed any phone driver previously on ya pc?
3. have u installed ya 3Com bluetooth driver which provided by the manufacturer?
4. What's the number u dial to access GPRS?
I will try my best to help ya on this. please provide me the above info.

Windows XP Professional, SP2

I first installed 3Com bluetooth driver which came on the CD. It automatically generated several ports. When I configured Dial up Network for cable modem, I installed SE serial modem.(Which is working fine). Similarly repeated the same procedure and installed SE Bluetooth modem.
3. have u installed ya 3Com bluetooth driver which provided by the manufacturer?

4. What's the number u dial to access GPRS?

ok... thank for your reply. please refer to the below steps
1. remove ya bluetooth dongle from ya USB port.
2. uninstall all driver which u had installed earlier with ya 3Com bt driver
3. restart ya pc
4. after complete boot up from XP... put ya 3Com bluetooth dongle in USB port
5. Windows XP will start to install all service available for ya bluetooth dongle. do not remove the dongle.
6. after complete installation. go CONTROL PANEL and select PHONE AND MODEM OPTION
7. go to MODEM on ya upper part of the pop out menu
8. select "Standard Modem Over Bluetooth Link"
9. select "Diagnostics" and then "Query modem"
if u succeed query the modem... meaning u can create a normal dial-up options at my network place and do a GPRS dialup like normal dial up

Some points to clarify:
1. remove ya bluetooth dongle from ya USB port.
I have 3COM PCMCIA card not USB dongle. So I'll remove it from slot.
2. uninstall all driver which u had installed earlier with ya 3Com bt driver
I'll then unistall all the 3COM drivers and SE bluetooth modem driver
3. restart ya pc
Will do
4. after complete boot up from XP... put ya 3Com bluetooth dongle in USB port
Will push in 3COM PCMCIA card, which will prompt WinXP for hardware installation.
5. Windows XP will start to install all service available for ya bluetooth dongle. do not remove the dongle.
The pop window will ask to locate for drivers. Shall I browse for 3COM CD. or let Window install the its own drivers. I presume it will result in Device Manager with yellow sign of exclaimation.

I have managed to establish GPRS connection on my laptopm using 3COM bluetooth PCMCIA card via P910i bluetooth. Below is the description on how I did it:
Firstly I made cable internet connection followed by bluetooth internet connection. That''s how it worked on my system.
Points to note: on my laptop COM8 is for USB connection, COM5 and COM6 are for 3COM DUN serial client & host. My GPRS service provider is O2 UK.
Linking phone with laptop for Internet use (Phone GPRS) through USB cable(cradle):
On P910, go to control panel, connection, cable, modem connect, select speed 115200
Put P910 on cradle, uncheck USB port(COM8) in "Phone connection link", enable COM8 in Control panel, "Phone Monitor Options".
Click Dial-up Netwroking Wizard on SE program.
Enter "O2 Mobile Web" as the connection name. (You can choose any name)
Follow screen instructions:
GPRS access settings
APN mobile.o2.co.uk
Primary DNS 193.113.200.200
Secondary DNS 193.113.200.201
Username ***(I used my O2 online user name)
Password *** (I used my O2 online password)
Homepage www.o2.co.uk
Before pressing "Finish" click "O2 Mobile Web" button, Select Modems, Click Properties, Choose 57600 from the Maximum Port Speed drop-down menu, Select Advanced tab,
• Enter the following into the Extra initialisation commands
field exactly as written here:
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","MOBILE.O2.CO.UK" (all in upper case)
• Click OK
• Click OK again
Then • Select Properties
• Select Configure.
NOTE: Please make sure that the right modem is ticked.
• Un-tick Use dialling rules.
• Select Options
• Select 57600 as the Maximum speed (bps)
• Tick Enable hardware flow control
• Un-tick Enable modem error control
• Un-tick Enable modem compression
• Un-tick Enable modem speaker
• Select option
• The only thing that you need to check in this window is that
Display progress while connecting is ticked
• Select Networking tab
tick TCP/IP
tick QoS pocket
• Select Properties
Enter the following settings:
Primary DNS server: 193.113.200.200
Secondary DNS server: 193.113.200.201
• Click OK
• This concludes setting up the connection properties.
Click OK
Now before making dial-up connection through "O2 Mobile Web" icon in Network Connection, on the P910 change cable modem speed to 57600. (Make note that while setting up this procedure it has be at 115200, otherwise P901 and laptop won't communicate thru Dial up Wizard of SE)
On laptop, go to start, control panel, Network Connection, and click O2 Mobile Web icon. Hopefully it should work.

Linking phone with laptop for Internet use (Phone GPRS) through Bluetooth:
Points to note: Uninstall 3com Connection Manager and remove 3COM PCMCIA card. Reboot the system and re-install 3COM software and hardware. Why? This will automatically generate "O2 Mobile Web"(Bluetooth) icon in Network Connection. Thereon make the following changes:
Uncheck all COM ports in "Phone connection link",
Enable COM5, COM6, COM7, COM8 in "Phone Monitor Options", in Control panel (don't know the reason to enable too many com ports?).
Click Dial-up Netwroking Wizard on SE program. Follow all the configuration for O2 GPRS setup explained as above.
Select 3COM bluetooth DUN client as modem in Dial-up Network Wizard. ( There is no need to install SE bluetooth modem)
On P910, go control panel, connection, Bluetooth, turn on bluetooth.
On laptop start 3COM connection manager, refresh bluetooth devices, security set on custom, none.
On P910 refresh bluetooth devices.
Now on Network Connection click "O2 Mobile Web"(Bluetooth) icon. Both should laptop and P910 should prompt from passward.
Hopefully connection will be established via Bluetooth

Important notes:
The USB connection for internet started to work by installing SE serial P910 modem using WinXP drivers (not from P910 CD). The connection was made using O2 configuration (downloaded from internet)
Once the above started to work, install 3COM hardware and software, which will automatically generate dial-up connection icon similar to above. Make sure 3COM DUN client is selected in the modem option.
When not connecting, always check if the devices are paired on the p910i bluetooth setting and 3COM connection manager. It is helpful to use refresh button.
ALWAYS REFRESH ON P910 AND ON 3COM CONNECTION MANAGER BEFORE INITIATING ANY CONNECTION!!!

Thought I should share this observation that in establishing bluetooth internet connection I have lost to connect P910i to laptop for PC connect(not modem connect) via bluetooth. Which was smooth before. Any advice will be appreciated.

The way I used to do that before is as follows:
Linking phone with laptop for installing software through Pc Suite using 3COM bluetooth:
Setting; In "Phone connection link" go to properties and check Com6 & COM5.
On laptop, in Control panel, "Phone Monitor Options" disable all Com ports.
In P910i turn on Bluetooth, Cable connection set to PC connect.
In laptop start "Bluetooth Connection Manager". Now a window will prompt to connect to P910i. Click connect. Make sure that the phone is paired with latop in the Bluetooth devices. If not then pair it. Then repeat pairing on "Bluetooth Connection Manager". Keep on trying by checking COM5 in "Phone connection link". It may come with error, ignore them and keep on trying and should connect. It could be finnicky.
Once bluetooth connection is established then softwares can be installed thru "SE PC Suite" as if it connected thru cable on the cradle.
