A Tennessee man who was typing a text message on his cell phone as he traveled south on Interstate 65 died when he lost control of his pickup, which overturned as it went down an embankment, authorities said.
State troopers said Lucas D. Rolin, 26, of Ardmore, was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected in the accident about 9 p.m. Saturday near the Athens-U.S. 31 exit.
Troopers recovered Rolin's cell phone and said he was trying to send a text message at the time of the fatal wreck.
"Distracted driving is a big concern for troopers," said Curtis Summerville, a trooper spokesman. "It's a particularly dangerous activity."Rolin was the only person involved in the single-vehicle wreck.

Well i had the unfortunate fortune of being involved in a similar incident: a bloke fiddling with a 6610 while driving a 2 wheeler...he was using his phone with his right hand. When i realised he would crash into me, i horned-this startled him so much that he applied the front brakes only, which caused him to fall down. His phone went for a nice fly.luckily he had minor injuries. If i hadnt horned, he would have destroyed my month old vehicle(2 wheeler). One more thing - he wasnt wearing a helmet...i was

I only text message while driving if I am stuck in traffic. It just seems like common sense that, if you are moving, you must keep your eyes on the road.
This is why I have a bluetooth headset and voice commands... |

Well I was doing about 70 when we went past the artic, I glanced up when the missus pointed out the texting driver, he was in the slow lane not going slow at all.
After I glanced up and stopped shaking my head in disbelief I just booted the motor, never saw him again luckily.

I got a personal rule, if i'm alone, i may text on the highway while doing 80, if somebody is with me, i make it a point to stop while taking a call or even reading a message.
