Hong Kong or Singapore? |

I am thinking about visiting these to places on holiday, and maybe buying a phone while there, I have been to HK 3 times before and love it, the amount of Mobile shops is great.
My question is which place is the cheapest? HK or Singapore? I would be getting the phone without contract/sim free?
Thanks |

you got to know where to get the cheapest .... it does not matter which country to get frm .. it is the place you buy it .. you can get a good deal at sim lim sq in singapore .. but the sale person there have AP (attitude problem) ... so beware .. hhehehe the accessories at bugis is also very cheap .. and some sim free is also cheap at burlington sq .. all the location are in singapore.. what hp .. do you have in mind .. maybe i can help you get a cheaper price .. you know they like to squeeze cash out of tourist .. eheeh .. so if a local buy it with you they know they can do tht ..

Thanks Orang3, Just sizing it up at the moment. I know what you mean about tourists etc, in HK Nathan road is crazy, very high pressure salesmen. But better in Mong Kok etc.
If I book my holiday I will be getting you to Bargain for me |

Ok for a test for all you people in HK and Singapore, find your best local prices for a
1: Nokia 8910
2: Sony Ericsson T68i
3: Samsung T100
This should be interesting, post all your results here. Please don't make up any prices |

Hope I can be of some help. To the best of my knowledge, typical shop prices with local warranty and sim free are:
N8910 S$1068 (Natural Titanium colour)
T68i S$680
T100 S$733
But, my brother in law who works in a phone shop reckons that the best price anyone can get for these phones are:
N8910 S$999
T68i S$668
Unfortunately, T100 is not available at his shop. These prices are close to cost already so please don't tell too many people about it.

Went to HK last Dec and found the w/o SIM prices cheaper than Sg. The shops were something akin to Spore's Sim Lim and Lucky Plaza but my HK friend told me that locals would rather buy from their big chain phone stores like Fortress and Telcos because of the warranty. Apparently the small shops sell 'reconditioned' sets? Anyway the same goes for small shops in Sg so its just your luck. Bought a Motorola V60 for S$550 and 8850 for S$480 and this was Dec 2001 prices. |

Hope somebody can help me out.
I'll be going to Hong Kong this weekend and I want to know where I can get the MCA-20. I went there 2 weeks ago and most of the stores I went to said that they only sell the MCA-20 with the T68i (package). Does anybody know a place where I can get the MCA-20 separately? I'd appreciate it if you could also tell me the estimate price. Thank you very much in advance. |

Jeri, did you try mong kok? If you take the MTR to mong kok and the then use the exit for 'The Ladies Market' Just across the main road is huge shopping centre, three floors of mostly Mobile phone shops, and lots cheaper and less daunting than the sharks on Nathan Road.
Hope this helps |

If u guys do get a phone remember to get the English/US versions, check the box for everything, test everything, shop around for a day or two and watch out for the VAT man when you get back.

VAT? not a problem, ditch the box and keep the charger and manual, the customs guys would not know its a brand new phone. |
