unoriginal T68 car kit |

I have just bought a unoriginal hands free car kit for my T68m(i). The kit works very well, and the sound quality is very good.
But there is one thing that is some sort of strange, when I connect the phone, the display says that it's a portable hands free that is connected. Is this normal, shouldn't the display show that a car kit is connected?
When a car kit is connected I guess that the clock should not be displayed? Quite irritating to not see the information screen with antenna signal, because the green lamp is always on when charging.
Hope that someone with original or unoriginal car hands free sets can give me some answers. |

Might be because you have a un-original kit, mate.

Can someone please tell me what the phone is suposed to report when a handsfree car kit is connected? Portable handsfree or Car handsfree (or soething like that)?
What are the differense in the two options under handsfree? I changed mine from Handsfree type 2 to 1 and the only thing I noticed was that the clock screensaver is gone... (But that's a very good thing!)

When you connect the phone to a car kit, it simply converts your phone to the "In Car" profile - this goes for the T68i - I don't know if it's any different for the T68m(i).
Changing to a certain profile depends on which of the phones connector pins (at the bottom) are connected by the device. The portable hands-free, for example, connects different pins than does a charger than does a car kit than does the mp3 player to name a few.
Hope this helps

Well.. it doesn't really matter that it doesn't use the Carkit profile. You can edit the portable hansfree profile and have the background light always turned on in that profile. (If you also have a portable hansfree that you use from time to time that would be a problem of course).

Yes, it's no big problem because I don't have any portable handsfree.
But there is one thing that I find very stupid; why can't I set the key lock to off in one profile and on in another?
I guess that with an original car kit the keylock is off?

For the record:
Today I went out and bought myself an original Ericsson Car Kit. Got tired of the small malfunctions on the unoriginal kit and sent it back to the dealer.
So if anyone is planning to buy an unoriginal car kit for the T68(i), ask to try it out before buying it.... |

I use German Audio 2000 kit with my previous phone and change the holder for new one with no problem. Good sound... Next time I will get a bluetooth adapter for this carkit. |

Any link to a online store?
Interested in some information, but I'm very satisfied with my new HCA-20 with HCH-30 holder. |

I don't know any online store with it, but you can see their page http://www.funkwerkdabendorf.de/en/html/home.html |

Thank you.
I think that the original Ericsson holder looks nicer.
This kit has a BIG holder compared to the HCH-30.
But it's a nice feature that you can change the holder to use phones from different manufacturers.
