HBH-600 & PC - Unable to discover |
XSailor Joined: Sep 25, 2004 Posts: 4 From: NOIDA PM |
I have a K700i and a Akono HBH-600. They pair and work flawlessly!
Now, I wanted to use just the HBH-600 as mic/ear phone for Skype calls on my PC (Win XP SP2 + Widcomm 1.4.3 Build4 with cheap Silicon Wave USB BT Dongle).
However, am facing following issues;
a) Unable to even discover the HBH-600 on the PC. Have tried using Win XP drivers too. BTW, am aware that once the HBH-600 shows as discoverable, I can pair the PC with it, use the headset profile and go-ahead. However, the HBH-600 never shows up.
b) Have tried to turn-off the BT on the K700i and just try discover the HBH-600 on my PC. No luck.
c) All other services between the K700i and the PC work just fine.
Where am I going wrong? Have read elsewere that users have managed the above task and using the HBH-600 sucessfully with Skype (A VoIP software).
Any suggestions?? Much appreciate.

Hi. Refer my earlier post, I managed to get the HBH 600 paired with my PC.
The manual gives a cursory reference to press both the volume keys for >5 secs to get into reset mode and "ready-to-pair". Did that and ...Bingo.

My first impression would be to tell you to get a Mac, but I will play nice and do my best to help you.
You might have to go into Windoze, I guess you are using, and select the output device, i.e. speakers. However, this is not a good idea if you want to use your headset with your phone other times of the day. Try to see if specific applications allow you to pick the output devices. As an example, Skype for Macintosh, will allow me to use the Mac mike to talk, and my BT headset to listen or use the BT headset for all conversation, or to speak and use the Mac speakers to listen. Very flexible. Hope this helps. Check the applications that you want to use BT with.
P.S. Did I mention that you should get a Mac?

I've done it, but w/XP SP1, not 2. What profiles does your dongle support? |

@Grimslade
Sorry dude but my Mac has built in BT. It will support any and all profiles. Headset, OBEX xfer, etc.... I was sort of joking about getting a Mac, but honestly, us Mac users do not normally have these problems with external peripherals. I do know that it took less than 10 seconds to pair my headset to my Mac, and less than 30 to use it with Skype.

Sapporoboy, we've had this discussion before. Let's not hijack this poor guy's thread. I'm trying to solve his problem, not convert the world to Macs... |

If we have had this discussion before, I do not remember it. Second, I do not have to use a dongle. If we had this discussion before you would remember this. Third, I answered his question the best that I can. I know that BT sometime, many times does not work well, under Windoze. I have experienced this myself. Forth and final, I do not see anyone else trying to answer his question in this thread, and I do not care if he converts or not. I use Mac because it works for me.
One Skype solution: I am not sure about the Windoze version but if you look in Preferences or Options, it might give you the option to change the audio preferences. See it Skype recognizes your BT headset. If it does, then tell Skype to use this instead of the normal output and input devices.
