Got a E700 which worked on all UK networks.
Now, it does not work on o2 but works on all other networks???
Tried a few o2 sim cards and can't get it working.
Some guy in a phone shop says o2 has been barred???
Is this possible?
Any help appreciated.

It says nothing, it comes up with a phone logo at the top with a line through it?

I was going to say, sounds like it's been barred from O2 - have you any different O2 simcards to try in it?

Surely if its barred, it would be barred from all networks?

Nope, only if the phone was registered stolen.
Orange and T-mobile can block a mobile from their network for non-payment, but they're not allowed to block it from all of them since it's an issue with the network and user - I haven't been keeping up so much since O2 and Vodafone implemented blacklisting but there's nothing to stop them doing the same.
I would contact O2 with the IMEI and see if it was one of their phones.

Yes, it could just be blocked on O2 for a previous owner not paying his bill. I had a T68i with a similar problem, it wouldn't work on Orange but worked fine on others.
I'm not sure though whether when a phone get's barred if it gets barred initially on one network, then the others bar it at a later date or whether all nets bar a phone at the same time - keep an eye on it and make sure the same thing doesn't start happening on other networks!

Sammy_boy: if a phone is reported as stolen, it will be placed on the central blacklist and barred from all the networks immediately.
However, if the phone is barred due to a billing issue, then it can only be barred from that specific network - they can't bar it from all the networks because techincally the person not paying the bill hadnt done anything illegal with the phone, the network bar the phone as an incentive to encourage the person to pay the bill.
Peter_Kay - let us know how you get on

Problem is, i purchased the phone from a user here at Esato.
Whether he admits not paying bills is another issue

I would phone O2 first and ask them, they should be able to help if you give them the IMEI number - I'm not 100% certain that's why it's not working on O2, hopefully O2 would be able to clear things up for you before you start trying to sort things with the seller

Will o2 support the e700 even though its not under my name?

They should handle general queries about the barring status, although it's a bit more tricky if the phone's only barred from O2. No harm in trying, it's totally up to you.
Hope you get it sorted.
