cinguLar has finally released it's long awaited GPRS/WAP settings. although most of you are using different settings for your cingular mobile phones, it's better to use these settings to avoid problems regarding WAP/GPRS.

So what are the primary IP and Secondary IP port numbers.My friend has got a Motorola A388 that I what to connect to the network. And this is a must have just like the V70 in order to connect to GPRS. He needs full 56kbps. thanks in advanced. |

TO Prom1: You don't get a 56kbps with GPRS, because it uses little different standard speeds. One you get usually is 53,6 kbps.

Actually depending on the saturation of cell sites that your service provider actually has in your particular (30km), and how many other cell phone users using the GSM/GPRS bandwidth (remember 8 users can connect to 1 cell site) then you can actually could get the full 56kbps connection. If only one user in a 30 km radious from the same cell site that your connected to is on a call using GSM and your not on a call and using 1up/4down on your T68i then that alone gives you 53.6kbps but I'm also aware that your T68m/i like my T39m also has a compression (that you cannot modify) method that could further increase your connection speed. So theoretically and in pratice of reality it IS possible to get 56kbps. No self respecting customer service rep from your service provider will tell you that you could get 56kbps but you could, maybe not always, but try when the least busiest time would be like say 4 am.
but for all intenses and purposes most ppl wouldnt see 56kbps, most of the time.

Hello All-please look upon this email with pity, for I am completely at a loss for all of this. I have a home in Paris but also have residences on the East and West Coasts of the US. When I am in the US, I am on the Cingular Wireless network, which just launched its GPRS service (I know, I know....). I have a T68 for use here in California, and for the past 7 days, I have not been able to get it to work (GPRS and Wap that is). I have looked at the threads detailing how to set it up and such, but have found that with your levels of expertise, a few simple hints would definitely set me off on the right path.
Secondly, how are you all getting these firmware flashes? Are they doing it for you at the service centers? Or are there software out there that can be obtained and done by me? I looked inside, where the battery sits and find that it is a T68m, with 02W02...could anyone tell me what firmware I'm working with? Presumably old!
At any rate, I'll keep plugging around until I find a way to get this up and running. My network provider, Cingular, keeps telling me that everything is activated on my account, as far as they are concerned, but my phone is the culprit. Thanks, all, in advance for any help I could get!!! |

Okay so I entered all the information to access WAP via the Cingular network... the only thing now is that since I entered "http://device.home" as the startup page, it asks for "Phone" and "PIN". I tried entering my "Wireless Window" userID and passcode, but the WAP seems to only allow numbers in the "Phone" field. My username on Wireless Window is alphanumeric. I tried entering my cellphone number and my Wireless Window PIN, but it keeps giving me the message "Login Failed". I've tried every combination I can think of... can anyone offer any help? Thank you, thank you, thank you...

Oh, and I probably should have mentioned in my previous post that I have an Ericsson T66... not a common phone on the Cingular network, I know, but this is the reason why I can't get any sort of customer support from Cingular themselves.

Help!!! I have a T68i provisioned correctly from cingular. Have the nice and cute blue GPRS triangle solidly lit but none of the GPRS settings will take. When I go to connect it just says connecting and the in 15 or so seconds says communication error please try again or check your settings. I have tryed the settings from the thread in here which have had no luck with it. Can anyone shed some light on this issue for me please.

Hello,
I have an unlocked Sony Ericsson T68i and I use Cingular Wireless (San Diego area) as my service provider. I found documentation on the Internet about Cingular Wireless GPRS setting and entered the information into my T68i. Even with the documentation from Cingular, I’m still unable to connect using GPRS. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
