Yeah, there are a couple of things I would like to see updated. I can't think of them now, just minor tweaks I would like to see added.

A warning message advising you to shut the camera shutter when you have finished using it is a main one.

increased sms memory would be nice, allowing YOU to choose the limit, over 30mb and less than 1mb for smsS?!!!

@peacemf I also think the voice dialling recording system does not give you enough time to record the names and commands I would like to see that increased so that it is similar to the T610.

Also, when you press and hold a number to go to the phone book, I would like to be able to press another number, to enter the second letter of the contact.

I am sure there are loads of minor things like that which would make the phone perfect. But alas we cant have everything.

I bought my s700i from cpw yesterday, my girlfriend got the same from a different branch of cpw today. My girlfriends s700i appears to be updated as the keylock turns off when phone is swiveled open, Mine hoever does not.

Reading this thread I now know how to update my phone although i've got to get a dss-20.

what I want to know is how are you guys checking the firmware version. I don't seem to be able to find this anywhere on the phone.

Only had it 24 hours but already love the s700i.

Please post reply detailing how to check firmware version, thanx

I have read this thread but can't really seem to 'string' all this info together. Get it? String? Threads?? Anyway...I wanna update my firmware on my S700i. I have R3L002 software. I wanna update and tried the other day. I bought a USB cable (can't remember the model code) but think it was the right one. I downloaded all the stuff from the SE site and tried to update, but when I actually try to update it nothing happens. Also my computer always says the device has been installed but may not work properly. This is when I plug the USB into the port and connect it to my phone. Is it this complicated or am I just the teeniest bit retarded??? Please don't just ignore me guys. Thanks!!

Hi PWallwin. Welcome to Esato.

It can't be updated using just a plain USB Cable.

You have to have the SE Dss-20 or Dss-25 syncstation which was originally made for the P series. Nothing else will work.

I got mine on Ebay for about £12 inc p+p.

It is not just good for updating, you can transfer files from pc to phone quickly as well.

My complete update took about 10 mins on Broadband.

That was a nice welcome - thanks. Will look on ebay and prob get one. The main reason I want to update my firmware is - when I'm sent 2 messages on the same txt, I only receive the 1st part of the msg, then mayb an hour or 2 later I receive the 2nd part. Been on the phone to O2 and SE but they both say I need an upgrade to patch it.

Is it just with double text messages that you have this problem?

Also check you SMS Access setting is set to "GSM" and not "GPRS".

MENU >>> CONNECTIVITY >>> DATA COMMUNICATION >>> SMS ACCESS.

I had problems with my S700 until I changed that setting. Now all is fine, but you still may have to upgrade.

Hope this helps.

Yeh it's on GSM setting. Just with the double messages I get the problem. I'll try to update it. Thanks.

Hi guys, right, i think i have alot of your answers. There is another thread which details latest software updates for the S700i and also covers most of your queries.

To use SEUS you need to have an unbranded phone. The way SEUS checks this is by looking at the phones CDA number. I was branded to O2 but used SETOOL to change my CDA, now SEUS works fine - im currently on R3M008 with a CDA of 102300/20 R2A.

As far as the S700i goes, I'm pretty sure you DO need a DSS-20 or DSS-25 stand to use SEUS. However, you have to use a T68 / SEFighter equivalent cable to utilise SETool - if you need to change your CDA number. I have heard that it is possible to get alternate driver to enable your DSS stand to function as such, but I cannot confirm this.

In answer to camera shutter sound. As far as my experience went, all that was required to enable silent shutter was a settings reset rather than a full reset under the master reset menu, thereby retaining all data etc. I had put on the phone in between the flash upgrade and the reset.

Simply. Once paying for one flash credit to use SETool and buying a DSS-20 or DSS-25 you can have all the free upgrades from SEUS as they are released.

Hope to help

I change my S700i CDA with Davinci with the DSS-25, then updated with SEUS, since SETOOL only sells unlimited credits Davinci is a cheaper option, AFAIK SETOOL hasn't yet the driver dor the DSS-2x.
