Software probs seem to be a big thing with sonyeric
phones. Im personally having an absolute disaster
with both my T39m and my upgraded T68(i) phones.
What I would like from u guys is a compilation
of probs relating to ANY s/e or eric phone,it seems when i visit or phone s/e nothings ever positive, they just say
we "will do this and see if it works",and orange just replace them with another (recon) phone that has yet another prob!. I have had nearly 50 phones over the last
seven years so i have a little experience with mobile phones, and I have discovered over the last two years that as they have got more advanced the more problems you seem to get!!.
If this is 2.5gen, how will we deal with the 3rd gen
coming soon???? If I get the right response this
will go to s/e!. PLEASE HELP? Romax

ERICSDAD,

problems i've encountered with SE phones:
T28 - suddently powers off, cannot switch back on - dead phone, nothing can be done with it, Ericsson replaced it 3 times in total after i brought it into CPWH repair centre in Baker Street, London.
still got the handset, gave it to my brother, used as a 2nd handset.
searched the web and found this fault was due to the phones PSU going - whatever that means.

T68 - before upgrade - phone powered off approx. 3 times for no reason.

T68 - occasionally froze while accessing phone book or menu, sometimes started working again, other times battery had to be removed beofre it worked again.

T68m(i) one day lost reception and did not work at all, brought it to T-Mobile shop where it was replaced with a brand new phone and the Yes button did not work at all - replaced with another on the spot which needed upgrading to i software but funtions fine now.

where T68 has been changed, i've always checked joystick count to be in single digits, but cant say this means the phone isn't reconditioned as who knows whether the service provider can reset this?

Strange! I only experienced freezes when I was surfing on Esato via GPRS about two times. I had no other problems since I bought it in march. It is a t68m converted to a t68i, and as I said, no problems with both softwares!

@decoy7: everyone who has access to EMMA2 can reset the Joystick counter, there is SW package called joystick counter reset or something like that.

The T68i that I have has been shocking. I had a T68m and sold it to and replaced it with a T68i.

I have had 6 (yes SIX) replacements in the last 9 weeks, due the same recoring faults, those being;

1.Incoming ring tone either does not ring, or freezes after 2 rings.

2.Phone reboots for no reasons.

3.Phone book randomly deletes entries.

4.When entering a menu 'Please Wait' appears for up to 30 mins!

The first one I had had the RB2 software, then some had RB3, and the latest one has RB4, thats 3 software revisions in 2 months?? Think they are having 'issues' with the software by chance??

Vodafone have not even questioned all the exchanges, they accept there is a problem and have had a return rate of over 50 % so far on the T68i.

@decoy7: I saw it with my own eyes (the sw on the server, but not the sw in action). There is a screenshot of it somewhere in the news-forum of t68m.info. Must be an older topic. Someone posted the screenshot there to prove that the m to i conversion arrived that day on EMMA2. When I will have access to my computer I will look for that post. But as I said I saw it with my eyes at the service point in Winterthur, Switzerland about six weeks ago, believe me!

Zaji-D,

report back when you've seen the software work....anything else is just speculation and typical esato bo**ocks mate, a waste of time.

truth is software upgrades dont cure all problems with the phone.

i've used the 1st version of software on the T68 for months without any issues and my second phone had the 3rd version on it....both phones functioned fine with hanging issues occuring on both indiscriminately, if you get your phone changed for a new one you really must be unlucky to go through more errors with the replacement handset.

any error you get on these phones people are quick to say get an upgrade...there are issues with the phone period, even if you flash the phone with the same software version this can cure problems in the same way upgrading to latest software can...its all bo**ocks, no one knows what their talkn about and if you get a phone with no issues its just down to luck of the draw not software version.

@decoy7: I guess you are familiar with the fact that the t68 reboots from pressing the on button for 10 secs even with keylock on? I mistook that for a bug for a while until reports about that started to flood esato.
