Was just wondering,...about Seattle,..gsm & gprs ?
Whats the coverage (gsm-network) like there ? Anything You guys can recommend ? Companies ???
I'll be going to Seattle for some months from around November,..and theres a chance that I will actually be moving to Seattle too 
It all of course depends on different stuff,..e.g. work and so on,..but I hope that I'll be able to move "over there"

Seattle has 3 GSM carriers, more than most US markets.
1. http://www.attws.com
2. http://www.cingular.com
3. http://www.t-mobile.com or http://www.voicestream.com
I live in Portland, the next major city to the south. Seattle is a beautiful city, but automobile traffic has become horrible there in the last ten years. My best piece of advice to you would be to find a residence as close to your work as possible or study the transit system so you have a short bus ride if you won't be driving.
My mobile carrier is VoiceStream (soon being renamed T-Mobile). They have a great rate plan if you don't do a lot of traveling. I have 3000 voice/ CSD minutes, 350 SMS, and 1 megabyte GPRS for USD$53.
Right now, VoiceStream has way cheaper GPRS rates than the other two carriers at the moment. For instance, the same three dollars for 1 megabyte with VoiceStream would cost sixty dollars with Cingular.
HaHa Attws.com lists the Nokia 5165 in their "latest phones" on their website. I'd hardly call the 5165 a "latest phone"!

Actually I'm not an engineer,..but hardware designer. But then again I do know a lot about the "interior" as well
Michael > Okay nice...thanks ! Actually my little-sister's married to an american (from Hawaii),..they live just outside Seattle,..my brother in law is a system-programmer/engineer, working for one of Paul Allen's companies (the guy from Microsoft).
And my mother and father are moving overthere too in october/november.
I have though about Microsoft, maybe something with Pocket PC, user-interface designs maybe ?
My brother in law is looking through my papers/resume/CV right now.
I sure hope,..that I'll be able to find something,..as its pretty impossible here in Denmark 
And with my whole family over there,..and also some friends,...I dont really have any reason for staying here.
Still its pretty hard looking for work,..when you're sitting xxxxx miles away from it all,..thats why I will be travelling to Seattle anyway in november.
Although it would be nice to have a job, before I got there
It wouldnt have to be the "dream-job" from the beginning,..just something to start with, hehe.

@rj, Istream or GPRS data with Voicestream doesn't have any one-time activation fee of $25 plus tax and surcharges, Cingular has it and it even needs a one-year contract. ha! my plan is only $29.99 and i have 1mb of Istream data or 500txt msgs free included with my plan. you gotta admit it man, Cingular plans sucks big time, hehehe peace

dat's for data/rim wireless handheld. i stream is the same as GPRs that's offered by cingular. $2.00/Megabyte and $.03 per overused kilobyte. there are packages also and it includes SMS. =] |

but then again i just saw her SHOCKED coz she got charged by making them calls to 411 =]
lol. once again, that's the DATA connect, not GPRS. GPRS is called wireless internet express. betta check it again =]

also, CINGULAR doesnt have an ACTIVATIOn charge for GPRS. that's only for a handheld device. GPRS is free to add and be cancelled from your postplan. =] |

rj, i'm not gonna say anything about this anymore, i'm tired of this kind of crap...Voicestream doesn't pay me if I'll speak of how good they are, neither does Cingular pay you when you say good things about them. so i'll just keep my my mouth shut from now on |

@rj: Are you getting some sort of special unadvertized deal to get the same rate of $2.99 per meg at Cingular? I stand corrected. Due to the confusing cingular web site, their GPRS is not $60/ megabyte. On Cingular, it's $6.99 for 1MB then $30 per megabye for overage. This is still way more than VoiceStream's $2.99 per meg and $10 per mb overage.
Plus, Cingular charges $4 per month to use circuit switched internet. VoiceStream does not charge for the service.

cinguLar offered FREE wireless internet b4. i THINK they are still offering this but it's just not advertised. it's like a bonus whenever somebody gets a plan and use a wap enabled phone.
it says $6.99, yeah, you're correct. but $4.99 is the wireless internet and GPRS is $2.00. that $6.99 also includes 100 free sms.
once again, the internet was offered free [till this date i think but not advertised] so it's $6.99 - $4.99. that makes GPRs $2.00
aLso, when u have GPrs, you're phone automatically has a dial-up internet access that uses your airtime.
i got no problem with Dial - up since i got their old pLan before . 1000+ anytime minutes/ unlimited nights 8PM - 7AM/ weekends / mobile to mobile / unlimited sms / etc.
***i'm one of the less than 4 people under cingular that HAS UNLIMITED SMS with GPRS. normally, this is not allowed. u have to get the package and cut down your sms allowed per month.

Not really! If a small coke is $1.00 and a large (which is 3 times the volume) is $1.50, could you say that you bought the equivalent of 2 small cokes for fifty cents? 1 megabyte of GPRS on cingular is $6.99, not $2.00 because you can't purchase it individually.
I'd like to see the faces of the people in the store when I said "I'd like to buy the extra volume of coke that comes in a large. I'll only pay you the difference in cost between the large and small." They would laugh at you.
VoiceStream has cheaper data plans.
VoiceStream: $2.99 for 1MB GPRS, CSD, 300 SMS. Overage is $10/mb
Cingular: $6.99 for 1MB GPRS, CSD, 100 SMS. Overage is $30/mb
Even though Voicestream charges for incoming SMS, you figure that you receive roughly the same amount of SMS that you send. The SMS plans are equivalent if you receive TWICE as many as you send. Cingular is cheaper if you BOTH receive more than twice as many as you send AND go over your alloted number of SMS'es on the plan since you're not refunded for unused messages.
