ok, well I guess its inevitable from ongoing chats in the new phone threads that we're going to need to do this comparison so we might as well start now and I guess we can only do it right now from specs available on the SE site

K600i specifications

Z800i specifications

my initial comparison of specifications shows the Z800i has memory stick PRO while the K600i has an FM radio. The Z800i has motion eye which just means it only has one camera which rotates whereas the K600i has dual cameras. Both main cameras have the same 1.3mp resolution.

both are tri band GSM and both have the same resolution main screen (176x220 pixel) and colours (262,144)

they both support the same video and music standards, both have mini USB, BT, IR, same wap standards etc etc. Indeed apart from that mentioned above and the form factor I can't see any other difference.

In summary, and in my opinion, it really comes down to what form factor you prefer as to which of these you will choose

so... any other differences I may have missed or other thoughts on this comparison?

Its not necessarily only the form factor which plays an important role in making a decision, expandable memory and pricing are more crucial. with a 1.3 mp cam, pics are gonna be quite large in size and this in turn requires more memory.

However the k600 does look better than the z800 but thats my opinion
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your attempt !!

I guess those are the only differences but i dont think a comparison would be correct at the moment as the prices of both are not known. Personally i dont like flip (or swivel, slide etc) phones n also use a lot of fm but then the z800 has mem expansion possibilities. I would like to go for the k600 but just coz i'm hopin it would be priced lower than z800

yeah I guess I discounted memory expansion a bit quick but with this kind of phone I personally have little use for any more than the 37mb unlike on the jam with a bigger screen where movie and music video watching is quite acceptable and on which I have a 2gb SD card

@clank, yeah I don't like folding phones either, well with a few exception like the V3

Is it just me or somebody else thinks that two camera's are a big joke? This too is a difference.

2 cams are fairly standard on a candybar style 3g phone and I'd hate to see a motion eye at the top of the K600i

I think out of both these phones, once summer comes around i will go for the k600. true the memory is a bit of a shame (so sony ericsson if ur listening fix it!) but if you are gonna use the mp3's for ringtones, like i do then the mp3 trimmer will be needed. and the rest of the time i would listen to the radio anyways. i have longed for a phone roughly the same size as the t610/k700i which is reliable, good features, looks cool and has a price range which is decent. i hope that this phone will live up to it, and yes one more request, make it compatible with the o2 network please! no more delayed or missing texts! In summary z800 good features, looks quite nice but does it have the style or mojo of the k600i????? time will tell

a german friend told me this.
K600: 500euro
Z800: 750euro

while the Z800 won't drop that much in price. the K600 will, if there are enough sold.
imo a fair price since 3G markets and custumors are limited and there for phone sales are much less then 2.5G handsets sales.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA

Well the k600 is a UMTS phone which makes video calls. So you need two in this design: one "high res" camera for pictures, which has to be on the back so you can watch the screen, another one for filming yourself in a video call, which has to be on the same side as the screen, otherwise you wouldn't see the other person and you might be out of reach for the microphone.

In a clamshell it makes sense to put a swivel camera, and I suppose it is possible in a candybar, but it makes is complicated and prone to defects and all that. Furthermore I assume putting in a low-res 2nd camera is cheaper than making the camera swiveable.

Why would it be a joke?

Edit: grammar and style

So, can anyone tell me one good reason (apart from 3g) why I should give 500 for k600 instead of buying k700 for 210e.?

thats more a question for the general K600 discussion rather than this comparison between K600 and Z800 but since I am replying with that comment I will say that I cannot really think of a reason except styling choice, but please continue in that in the general K600 discussion thread

no memory slot on the K600 but the Z800 does have memory stick PRO duo support (as does the V800)
