I got a data cable from ebay yesterday, but i don't know how to work it as it didn't come with any instructions. I have installed it all, and connected it to my phone. It is definatly connected as it is charging through the computer. I don't know how to send stuff to it, as when i click a file that came on the CD, it doesn't show my phone.

All help Appreciated

Have u installed the drivers for the USB cable ? u must have got it along with the data cable.

Once u've done that try using k700DateiManager to connect -

Yes i have installed it. I clicked on Myphones on my desktop, and in the CD manual thing on the CD, it says the phone should be in there, but it says not connected, even though it is. I'm using PC Suite, as that is what came on the phone

Cheers

Phone suite is quite unreliable. Download that k700DateiManager and try to connect.

EDIT : Just a minute ! You installed the phone suite but did u install the USB cable drivers ? Did u get a CD along with the USB cable ? the drivers on the CD which came with the phone are only for SE's data cable - DCU-11 i think

Go to https://sourceforge.net/ and download the latest version of fMA.
It doesn't need anything else. No COM ports to enable, just connect your phone to the cable and launch the app. fMA will look for your phone.

Its not SE's DCU-11 cable. Did u get the CD along with the cable ? there must be an installable(*.exe) file in the root directory(usually). Usually that installs the drivers automatically.

Jack

Edit - I got a reply from the person, nd this is what he said, so if i can understand them, i am going to follow the instructions. I'll update you all later.

Cheers
Jack

What I suggest is that you uninstall the USB Driver from your PC. Then plug in the USB Cable, when prompted by windows, with the software CD in your CD Rom Drive, run the add new hardware wizard, select automatically detect driver.

You may have to run this wizard a couple of times, until windows prompts that the hardware is installed and working properly.

Next, find which port your USB Data Cable is being found on by your PC, you need to go to your device manager.

To do this go to -- control panel (switch to classic view) -- System -- Hardware -- Device Manager -- Ports (COM & LPT).

The cables connection will be displayed by windows as a name followed by the wording COM, then a number for example PROFLIC 4 - COM 2. The COM information is what you need, however this may differ depending on the kit you purchased.

Please make sure that you have the cable plugged in to the USB Port on your PC, otherwise Windows will not pick up the connection and display connection information. Once you have this information, set up the software to pick up the cable on the displayed com port.

if you have installed it, check the whether the USB port shows up in Hardware device manager in your system under COM ports.

Also try using DateiManager instead of SE PC suite, like i suggested

If you can uninstall the prior driver installation, I suggest that you that first.
