Sorry if this has already been posted but it is a good read about P800 with reference to bluetooth keyboard & editing Word & Excel files.

That's a good article, very interesting. Shame it doesn't also say when the P800 will be released. |

It was interesting indeed. Made me think about the decision between P800 and A820, another thread here...
The thing I would like SE to implement in P800 is 3G. That would make it the perfect phone.
I'm also a bit sceptic towards SE's handling about the T68, that was released in beta... Ok, it's a great phone, but when it was released, I've never had such problems with a piece of tech before.
Now, however, I'm quite satisfied with it, but it took 6 months, and I'm not willing to go through that again.
But then again, if the P800 is out of hardware/software bugs, and actually works as it is meant to, then I could consider giving it a try |

I think it is something we are going to see more and more, bugs and performance issues on new handsets.
Basically, they are getting more and more complex, and as a result need more testing. But at the same time there is a lot of pressure to realise the products early, in case they miss their window of opportunity.
About two years ago phones didn't do much more than take calls. The improvements were about call quality, battery life and form factor size/weight. Now we want configured email out of the box etc.
I'm not saying we should accept less in terms of quality control (and this has been an issue, I bought two T39s last year, one for me and one for the gf, both needed replacing within 6 months), but I see that as phones do more, they will also fail to do more.... if you know what I mean!

My major gripes with Ericsson are with their actualy manufacturing... inconsistent motherboard quality, poor slider switch quality...SW still too slow.
During the GH688/788 days, build quality of their phones was much better... flawed only by weird design oversights, like the SMS-name oversight in the 688, and battery terminal defects of their 5V phones.
I hope that with Sony's mass-production experience, they can help streamline Ericsson's production techniques and help remove most IC etching defects. An electronics giant like Sony should know how to improve thier over-all build quality. |
