Infra -red, compatability problems? |

I was wondering if anyone has had compatability problems with transferring files by infra-red?
I recently tried to send files to my neices samsung (P510) by infra-red but I always got a 'connection failed' message. Both i/r ports were enabled and I made sure both ports were right in front of each other!
I have had files put onto my phone (K500i) by another S/E phone, so I know my phone works, but cant understand why it wouldnt work sending them. I just wondered if the S/E phones only work with other S/E phones, but that would seem strange. Any cluess?!?!?! |

Jeez, I thought that would be the case, but seems odd that they would do that!! Nice one...thanks for the reply! Suppose they must be trying to ensure that more people buy Samsungs!! |

In reality, ppl will stop buying samsung, as i have successfully transfered pics to a nokia. Only samsungs have that problem! ;-)

Wrong! Nokia also blocks IR.
And even beetween samsungs it will fail i think.
Only VCards can be sent/received.

I think it's not a matter of blocking. I think Samsung's IR were not designed for that purpose. I have never used Samsung's IR for anything useful at all. Some say that it is used solely for modem purposes.
And also Nokia's IR is quite compatible with SE in my experience. You just have to make sure that the model you're transferring to supports whatever it is you're transferring.

Whell Samsung D500's IR is compatibil with any phone's (including my T630 and a 6230). Some "old" nokia's IR are blocked to, but not the new ones.
