its only the mobile phone division of siemens that is having problems as I understand it and looking at several news articles it seems to be $500m they are putting into india. The news also mentions that it is adding more software professionals and scientists at its facility in Bangalore. These software professionals works on telecom software, hospital information systems, call centre solutions and automotive electronics.
thats the basic summary of it all

@whizkidd - Just imagine LOSING US$ 1.3M daily mate ! I guess a merge with is not in the offing, as an Asian based celfone company is what they are aiming at pal . . . say, BenQ and Bird, that is, if these 2 are Asian mades !

Siemens AG is a large German Corporation and benefits probably from the other Siemens Divisions. Their industrial controls devision is pretty strong. So they might shuffling money from them around.

| Siemens increases mobile phone advertising budget with Omnicom's TBWA - report
MUNICH (AFX) - Siemens AG (Xetra: 723610.DE - news) has increased its mobile phone advertising budget with Omnicom Group PLC's TBWA agency, the Financial Times Deutschland reported, citing industry sources.
The newspaper said that at the end of last year, it had appeared that Siemens would allow its current contracts with the firm to expire.
Unnamed marketing industry experts speculated that since Siemens is increasing its advertising expenses, then it now intends to keep its troubled mobile phone business.
In the past, Siemens has said it has four options for the business: 'restructure, sell, close down or cooperate.'
In the quarter to December, Siemens' handset business posted an operating loss of 143 mln eur on sales of 1.170 bln. |
