K700i vs S700i |

Hi. i've had a K700i for some time now and i love it. got a S700i today and to be honest i don't see the point.
k it has a better camera, a better screen, and a duo slot. is that it?
it's big. the duo is limited to 128mb (says this site) and i just want to know why it's so big. am i missing something? it has exactly the same battery life as the k700i.
does it do anything in terms of applications that the k700i doesn't? but it doesn't have symbian or anything and i can't find anything in the menus about it, they seem exactly the same as the K700i.
someone please enlighten me.
other than that, my 5mp camera takes better pics, and if i knew this was the only difference, i would have stuck to the k700i, and probably will unless i missed something.

are you sure? i just don't understand it how they can cram all that in the k700 and then they make this brick just for beter camera functionality. i may as well strap a camera onto my k700. |

Well those are the 3 differences+better build quality and the con is size(some like me also dont like the swivel) I personally feel its overpriced buts its a grey area actually coz half the people feel same as you while half dont |

its my guess that you completely missed the many, many (many) threads before this one which pretty much state what you have said and its pretty much why, although I buy most SE phones, I have never bought an S700 since I too already have a 5mp Sony digital camera (the T1!)

well this phone was only £50 on contract and to be honest the build quality of the k700i is excellent too, and this has more chance of breaking anyway becuase of the swivel, camera shutter and duo slot.
ah well i'll give it to my sister she's always wanted a camera.
by the way, i also found out that hte k700i has some software that makes the pictures better, although not as good as 1.3mp, still very good.
k700i rules. the only thing i was hoping the s700 would do is run more aplpications but it doesn't. hmm . |

I have a question about the k700i, can you record your own voice and set them as a ringtone? |

welcome to Esato
off topic but yes although a recent thread had one person who found that he could no longer do this with latest firmware though this is unconfirmed with anyone else as yet

back to the original subject, I haven't actually used the K700i yet, but I love my new S700i. I guess the main thing is the mpixel camera and the display, which as you know is better quality and larger. Also having the duo port means if you get a 128 meg card and the right software, you can easily watch films on it as I am now doing. I'd say its only really worth it if you will use most of the features the k700 doesn't have, otherwise they're only really gimicks....

On paper the differences seem minor but the experience of using them both is quite different. After using the lovely screen for a while, going back to the K700 is a wee bit difficult for me. The size doesn't bother me, it hardly pulls my pants down when in my pocket. .

@rudeboy....you honestly think the k700 is well constructed?apart from the brushed aluminium batt cover...all remaining mechanical/cosmetic components are probably dirt cheap(especially the keypad and joy).the s700 is leaps and bounds ahead, and that's reflected in its price.

Where does this nonsense about the S700 being overly large come from? I have been using the S700 for several months now and quite frankly I have no problem with its size. I think it is a very nice size in fact, it bucks the trend of manufacturing mobiles for midgets. Why do people feel the need for a mobile phone that is small enough to be lost in the pocket of a flea wearing very tight trousers?
What is it that you need more than a 128 MB memorystick for? 128 MB is perfectly adequate for storing pictures, etc. If you are looking to store a lot of music then I suggest you buy a dedicated music player, the S700 does not market itself as one.

Does it? My S700 has a much better battery life than my K700.

The S700 has never been marketed as a smartphone and it uses the same excellent UI as the K700.

Well of course a 5 MP camera will take better pictures than a 1.3 MP camera, that is just common sense.
Perhaps you should have done a little research on the S700 before you bought it. I bought my S700 after I bought my K700 and although I am very pleased with them both I use my S00 far more than my K700.
The S700 has far superior build quality in my opinion; the screen is better; it has expandable memory; it has arguably the best camera of any cameraphone outside of Japan and Korea and of course there is the design. The design is very eye catching and I have received quite a few admiring comments from people about my S700.

@Scotsboy. I couldn't have put it better myself. You can't really compare the all metal finish of the S700 to the finish of the K700. They are in a different class altogether.
