Every time I switch on my K700i, after the main screen appears, when the operator text changes from "Searching" to "Orange" (my network), the phone makes the error sound (the sound if, for example, you go into the messages inbox and there are no messages). I am not experiencing any problems, but it does this every time I switch on the phone, and I am not sure what is causing it.

I have tried a master reset, but it still does it.

Any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

Dunno? You are saying master reset didnt help? In that case only a firmware upgrade will be able solve it.

If there's no problem with your phone, then I think you shouldn't be bothered by this. You don't turn ON/OFF your phone very often anyway, do you?
resistance is futile.

@ govigov

Nope, a master reset didn't help.

@ blackspot

As I say, there's no problem, and you're right, I don't switch on and off very often, but it's just a little annoying... I thought perhaps someone may know, but if not, it's not the end of the world.

Nope, no error message. Just the sound when the operator text changes from "Searching" to "Orange".

Couldn't it just be the Welcome to Orange message causing it? Saying that i don't receive an error tone when their's no txt's in my inbox folder so i'm not sure what noise you mean.

You're right, this phone doesn't make the noise when you try to go into the inbox and there are no messages. My T610 did this, so I just assumed. I can't really describe the noise, but if you heard it, you'd know it's the error noise.

as long i used ericsson and phones they always made a sound ( few clicks when the operator is found ) maybe it is this what you mean.

just tried it with my k700 , but i was mistaken , normally it doesnt make a sound , it could be the firmware otherwise

Same here. Perhaps it's just a problem with this version.

I need to update too! The damn SEUS doesn't work for me though! How about you?

Further to this problem, I am sometimes getting "Inactive SIM" displayed now instead of "Orange". If I switch the handset off and back on again, it's fine. Now, I used to have a P910i, and this SIM was registered with that phone. I have just called Orange, but as I'm not using the P910i, they didn't want to help, and also blamed the problem on the K700i handset.

Could this really be the case that because I'm not using the P910i, it won't work properly with the K700i? Why would it sometimes work and sometimes not? Surely it's more likely to be a faulty SIM? What do you guys think?

@ boyi

Is your K700i the one that came with your SIM, or have you also swapped it like me?
