ok fellas,
would anyone of you be kind enough to compare and mention the differences between those three terms? we hear the terms alot but how would you differentiate them and which one has the best capabilities/transfer speed?
in which areas are they used?

thanks!

hi umts and 3g are basically the same thing just going under different names and offer speeds upto and including 300+Kb/s

Whilst EDGE (Enhanced Digital for a Gsm Environment, please correct me if i'm rong with that!) offers speeds upto and including 150+kb/s

Video calling is available on both but support on edge hasnt been fully shown yet as it is very choppy whereas on 3G/UMTS it is smooth as a smooth thing which has just been shaved so its a bit smoother!

hope this helps and if someone has a better explanation go ahead coz i am lazy and dont write much each time. [addsig]

CDMA or Code Division Multiple Access is used in India and some other countries too. it offers better voice clarity than standard GSM technology. CDMA, allows large amounts of voice and data to be transmitted on the same frequency. That was the simplest possible explanation of CDMA i could think of! :-D
