i have a T68i sony ericsson and have not had any trouble with it until today. this morning, some entries in my phone book were blank lines, and when i try to delete them or use them to call, i get nothing. there seems to be a memory fail in that there is a blank in a large number of entries, but the entries themselves have been lost. the only thing remaining is the blank space and, sometimes, when i have a voice command, the voice command remains.

do you know what i should do? should i send the unit into sony ericsson or robb in pittsburgh for repair or reflashing? i'm pleased with the current software though it is a little slow and didn't want to mess with it. but all of a sudden, it is not working. i tried to delete all phone entries IN THE PHONE's OWN MEMORY, but it won't let me do it, it asks me for a code or something, which i don't have. i have never entered any codes, all i did was take out my voicestream sim card from my old 8890 nokia and put it in, and it worked.

please help! please email me directly at: eieio@nyc.rr.com

many thanks

I had something similar happening with my old T28 (!) --- some names went blank. For me, restarting the phone would do the trick, but you have of course tried that. I think you should get it repaired.

That's easy to fix. Just change your phonebook sort order from "first, last" to "last, first" or vice versa.

All your entries are still there but the index got screwed somehow so doing the above steps will rebuild the index.

I hope will fix this. It's so annoying. The first time I had it I had to resync all my entries from Outlook...
It's \\ NOT /// !!! Look at it sideways !

Go to position list click on the missing names you will see them there after that go back and you will see your phone numbers again make sure you click on the names in the position list.

This has happened to me three times now. I always COPY everything to the SIM card as a backup! The problem is if you have 3 numbers for one contact, it will copy the one contact as 3 contacts, all with the same name. Even if you click on the empty name and go back it does NOT work. This is a real pain in the ass. As for your the code that the phone is asking for, you need to call VOICESTREAM and ask them what PIN #2 is. For me my pin is the same as numbver one pin. The code comes from your service provider.

Coincidentally, yesterday I noticed that I also have a load of blanks in the Contacts list.

I have tried all the suggestions above except the resynchro with my laptop which is what I imagined I'd have to do. I'll do that next.

Trouble is that I can't identify any of the gaps, they look like additional entries.

If I go to edit them, they show all fields as blanks, but they cannot be deleted!
