Guide: Disassembling the T230 |

Hi all. Tonight I searched and the web for a guide to open up the Sony Ericsson T230, but I found nothing. After a lot of messing around, I finally stumbled across the magic trick, and wanted to share it with you all. (either nobody has posted this before, or at some time it got deleted - I honestly couldn't find it here on Esata)
## NOTE: Once all the screws have come off, the phone pulls apart without effort - do NOT force the case open.
You'll need a T6 Torx screwdriver (I think that's what they're called? The 6-pointed head screwdrive that most phones need, anyway).
There are 6 screw you need to remove.
(1) Remove the back battery panel
(2) There are 4 screws in plain sight - unscrew them.
(3) Use a FlatHead screwdriver (or something similar) for this step. Place the phone face-down on a table (so your SIM card is facing you). See the 5 battery terminal contacts? Just above those contacts, there is a "notch" in the silver plastic. Using the screwdriver, you need to raise the silver plastic (where the notch is) about 1-2mm (that's about 1/16th of an inch in the old scale), and then slide that silver plastic back and off the case.
(4) Unscrew the last 2 screws that you can see now.
See, it's pretty simple once you know the trick, but I imagine a few people have almost snapped their PCBs not realising there were still 2 hidden screws.
For people who are using the "search" function, I want to just throw in some keywords: disassemble dissassemble open t230 dust remove case |

NOTE: Pay attention to the COLOUR of the screws, and where they belong. They're different sizes, so when you re-assemble the phone, you don't want to mix them up. |

Sorry for bumping this month-old thread, but, like Hmyzak_SE, I am having a problem with the little notch in step 3. I have a T237, but from reading around on these forums, I believe it should be physically the same.
I have located the notch on my phone, but I can't seem to lift up the back cover to slide it back. I am having a problem with a few stuck keys. |

Hi Pickknic,
Thanks for this magic trick. You made my day!!!
I was kinda desperate of seeing my display become more and more a dustbag each day. Now i've got a clear display again. It was very easy to do and it saved me a lot of money. Thanks again. |
