I bought a new K700i on Wednesday (on PAYG) only to discover after a day of using it there is NO SMS option only MMS thus every msg i've sent since then has cost me 40p as opposed to 3p!!

I've had 7sim updates in a day and I still have the problem! Orange are now refusing to replace the phone as it's a "problem" and not a "fault".

I know my rights on this issue so i'm not after an answer on that, I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem as I was advised by one of Oranges (more helpful) advisors, that this a known fault with a bad batch of phones!!

Thanks for the welcome

If only it was that simple, I've turned the phone on and off after every sim update and the guy in the shop has had a go a few times as well.

In write new, there are two option. 1. Text 2. Picture. If you dont have text option, then it is the phone's fault. Ask the guy to check in other phones. Insist. This option must be available. Btw, welcome.

As said before thats not working. I've just got off the phone with one of their "advisors" and after umpteen more updates and putting my simcard into an old Nokia (spit) there was still no "write text msg" option.

The latest plan (and one that works) is to reactivate my old sim card.

After a while the "advisor" begrudgingly admitted that there is a "compatibility" issue with certain sim cards and the K700i!! SO WHY SELL THEM??

It is most definately a fault.

It's almost like buying a car and there's no passenger seat when there should be. You wouldn't expect the dealer to shun you by saying it's not a fault but just a problem.

did you use the sim that came with it or did you use an older sim to keep your number.
the only reason i ask is beacause if they send out a sim update to open all features of the phone and you changed the sim it often can fail. ive had this in the past. i would would just keep on at them also you could try 156 as this is data support and they tend to be on the ball alot more than normal customer services who tend to be jack of all trades and master of none.
good luck hope you get it workin

It's working now, but only on my old sim card?!

I'm just about to fire off a lenghty email to Orange, though I don't hold out much hope of anything but a standard no answer response
