Can someone tell me, briefly, the history of the \"Stars and Stripes\". I'm specifically interested in the dates the various stars were added. Thanks.

I think each star of the flag represents a state of the union. (I think)

Yes, I think each star is a State. But when were they added? I know there are currently 50 and during WWII there were 48.

basically the americans had the civil war... and they killed a few million of themselves. then they realized that killing indians is better so they killed off millions of indians, then put the survivors into reserves.

the same thing continues today... check out iraq (to say the least).

as for the meaning of the stars? i have no idea... but to millions the stars and stripes are a symbol of non-brotherly love

edit - the last 2 stars... i think hawaii and puerto rico (although PR is not yet an official state)

puerto rico is not a state, and it does not have a star. it is part of the US now, but does not qualify as a state. and noone has covered this part yet... but there are 13 stripes on the flag... which stand for the 13 original colonies of the US.
any questions, PM me, or ill check back here, i live in the US, i had to learn everything about it.
