Just wanted to say hello to everyone. Got a K700i (replacing a much needing to be replaced Nokia 6100) and I've very happy with it. I was very pleased to find this place though - so much info its unbelievable.
I got a DSS-25 docking station and had what now appear to be standard problems getting it up and running...thanks to posts on here I got it up and running no probs. Next problem to resolve is using mp3s as ringtones which I've found a few possible solutions too on here already.
Thanks |

Welcome Richard
IF you are experiencing problems with mp3 ringtnes then it sounds like you have a branded phone. Vodafone perchance ?
Have a look at this link which covers this problem.

Hi, thanks for your welcomes. Frigging PC playing up last night so I couldn't get online at all Anyhoo, got on ok this morning, but at work now
Planning to upgrade firmware then sort out the mp3 ringtone malarky tonight. Thanks for that link - that was the one I dug up the other day. The phone is indeed Vodaphone branded - tbh I didn't really know about the whole branding thing before I got it unfortunately, but you learn from these things!!
Anyway, hopefully all will go well with the firmware later.
Cheers guys |

No luck. After oodles of trying it ended up saying:
"There is currently no service for devices belonging to your operator"
Then:
"Your operator does not approve the usage of this server...blah di blah"
Dunno if the update service is just unavailable at the moment or not. Hopefully its not cos its Vodafone branded, but knowing my luck it will be. |

@RichardB, welcome! I also got the same message when I tried to upgrade from SE online service. Where are you from? What's your provider?
resistance is futile. |
