Much has been written about Saudi Arabia banning and recently lifting the ban on camera phones, but cellular phones including camera phones are used by millions of Arabs around the world.

An article in the Arab News reports how useful cellular phones -- including camera phones are to Arabs on Haj (pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia to visit and pray at the holiest places in the Muslim world).

The article notes that some Arabs carry camera phones and are "immortalizing some unforgettable moments of Haj on it to show them to their family members back home."

As far as i know it is allowed...Why are there so many pictures of holy sites if photographing them was'nt allowed?..But i may be wrong as i don't have the exact details on this...Maybe someone who's been to Hajj here can tell us? [addsig]

Ive seen videos, as in people have done documentries in the place so i think it is allowed.
The people took cameras inside and were videos people next to them etc etc.
These were like documentries for R.S lessons.
