The software i have downloaded from the sony site does not pick up my phone even though my dongle shows a connection. I have pasted an mp 3 file once directly using the dongle only but the phone put this straight into the other file and i cannot open it.

Even if the PC pick up the phone, it have to be paired up (with same passcode). Have you done that? When a PC search for bluetooth device, it will pick up any device it finds around it but it have to be paired in order for files to be transfered. Goodluck
If it weren't for bad lucks, I would have no lucks at all.

You don't need any s/w from SE to send files by Bluetooth.
Assuming u have correctly installed the dongle simply right click > Send As > Bluetooth.

As long as it IS an mp3 (and check the file extension is .mp3) the phone will recognise it.

Edit: if it asks for a passcode then it should be the default 0000 assuming u haven't changed it

You can't get simpler than right click

So using right click & send by BT doesn't work?
Try pairing the devices.

You should also have an option to setup the way they interact, make sure File Transfer or Object push is enabled

Taking for granted that the phone you are using is one of these : kxxx , pxxx, z1010, v800, z500. Make sure that the extension of the file is .mp3, and not .wma or .ogg. If these check out correctly, make sure that the phone's is switched on. now right click on the file and click send-> to bluetooth device. Select your phone. and voila itbshould be sent to your phones music folder.
