In an attempt to thwart any chance of violence during thefestival of Eid, the Pakistan government has imposed a ban on the use of cell phones and digital cameras.
According to the Daily Times, the district administration conducted a meeting under the chairmanship of Junaid Iqbal, the chief commissioner of Islamabad to scrutinize the security arrangements around mosques, Imam bargahs, churches and other installations. The district administration has also decided to put the hospitals on high alert. It's understood that following violent bomb attack on mosques and religious congregations across Pakistan and the twin blasts at Multan that claimed 40 lives besides leaving 100 injured, as well as the mob attack on Gurudwara Nankana Sahib and other places of worship, the Pakistan government is leaving nothing to chance. The police have also asked officials of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to deploy private security guards at Sui installations and ordered assistant commissioners, magistrates and sub-divisional police officials to patrol these areas.
