Thx for the link.

Ok, the drivers I had was the same.

My sitsuation is :

1. "USB Device Not Recognized
One of the USB devices attached to this computer has
malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it.
For assistance at solving this problem click here."
^This is when I unplug and plug the USB in.

2. In my Device manager it says "Unknown Device" under the "Universal
Serial Bus controllers".

3. When I try to update the drivers with the given directory of the
unzipped drivers then it says :
"The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than
the software you currently have installed."

4. All worked fine yesterday, even after I uninstalled Handset Manager
and my Audigy 2ZS drivers. All I did between yesterday and today is
one reboot.

Any comments would be highly appreciated.
Thx

if you are running windows XP or ME I'd suggest doing a system restore. It sounds like something you uninstalled also removed a required component for this USB cable but perhaps it was in use and so was not fully removed until the reboot.

if you can do a system restore to a restore point prior to uninstalling those you should be fine

Do you mean by "system restore" pressing F8 when booting and selecting "Last known good setting"?

If yes, I did that, still doesn't work.

I realized this while browsing. My driver info in "Device Manager" should be under "Ports (Com & LPT)" and not "Universal Serial Bus Controllers".

Yesterday it was under Ports as "Com3"/Something Else I think.. today it is under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as "Unknown Device"

Other devices under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" is :
*Dunno if this has anything to do with the problem, just extra info*
==========================
-SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
-SiS 7001 PCI to USB Open Host Controller
-SiS PCI to USB Enhanced Host Controller
-Uknown Device <- This is my MA-8910P Driver
-USB Root Hub
-USB Root Hub
-USB Root Hub
==========================
Using only a USB mouse atm.

(My Creative 7.1's also has a USB Port, which I do not use, don't think that this was installed yet so it probally has nothing to do with the problem)

Thx for the help so far, any comments maby?

no, thats not what I meant. On windows XP and ME there is the ability to save restore points and go back to them as needed.

you still haven't said what operating system and I forgot most about ME anyway so lets assume its XP.

click on start then help. the help and support center pops up.

on the right should be "pick a task" and one of those is system restore. if its not there then type system restore into the search box at the top and then from the results choose "run the system restore wizard"

then its simply a matter of choosing a system restore point prior to the time yesterday when you started uninstalling things.

windows xp automatically creates system restore points on a regular basis and also with certain events like installing drivers etc

system restore has gone me out of many a sticky situation but if that doesn't work I'm afraid there is no more on this topic I'll be able to help with so good luck!

Hi All,

I've just taken ownership of a K750i on Orange, and while I'm very happy with its features, I'm also struggling to connect via USB. I've searched all the posts here, and everyone else at least seems to be able to connect to their phones at least once. I'm having exactly the same problems as bAlki was above, using the supplied USB cable, except that unlike him I've never been able to connect via USB (i.e. in his second post above, I'm experiencing 1, 2, and 3). Connecting via BT does work though, but it's a lot slower than USB would be.

I've not installed/uninstalled anything recently apart from PC Suite, which I've installed/uninstalled/reinstalled, and also tried dl'ing the drivers from the SE website. I've also tried all 6 of my USB ports to no avail, and furthermore have tried holding down the C key while connecting.

Has anyone got any thoughts? Do you think I've got a duff handset/cable? Your input appreciated!

hi, many thanks for your post. I'm not sure, but I think my post might have made out I was using the same cable as bAlki. I'm actually using the one that came in the box, with the new-style connector.

Anyway, I downloaded and installed the PL-2303 driver from the website, but to no avail. It's there in my start menu (with just an "uninstall" option) and on add/remove programs, but the cable itself doesn't report anything when it's connected. And when I plug the phone in I get the same old "USB device not recognized" errors.

Does the new SE K750i cable definitely have the Prolific 2303 chip in it? Is there anything I should be doing to somehow 'activate' the driver?

Your help appreciated!

Looks like the cable is defective. Since it's the origial cable, SE download would be the official source of the driver.
