What do you think about the functions of those rather useless LEDs? It is nice that the green one blinks faster for some seconds when receiving an sms, but is this really useful like it is?

I suggest to make use of them, for example:
fast blinking of the green LED: new sms
fast blinking of the blue LED: missed call
(I think it is not so helpful to have to blue LED for bluetooth without havin a red one for infrared....)

maybe there are better ore more ideas around?

Well, acctually it is two leds on the T68 and one on T39...
The green/red one is one led with two colors!

one led with two colours? how does that work? different voltage or sometging/ ? i was thinking of changing roudn the green and blue on my t68i but i didn;t just in case i did omehtin wrong.

the green led is very annoying. i don't think it shoudl flash at all when in standby and ony flash when you have a tx or missed call. like the samsungs.

Anyone got contacts with SonyEricsson , I see the whole green LED idea as a future Firmware revision. It would be great to have it flash differently under different circumstances, i.e. new SMS/voicemail. Goddamn the SMS ring is quiet! Oh another idea - selectable message alert - ain't that supposed to be in the next revision, and when's it due?

I dont think so. What I can remember from my elektronic lessons is that the ligth color change depening on the input voltage. A led is a diode with a pn junction it will do nothing if you apply + and - the other way arround. There are leds wich can have 5 or more colors too.

That brings me to another thing I'm thinking of since a long time. Why the hell cant they put those leds for use as backlights ? Most phones use leds as backligth for lcd and keypad. It seems very easy to add a menu in the phone where you can choose your backligth color

The LED you mentioned is the Normal LED. It emits light when you got the polarity right and a 3V power source but the red LED emits an orange light when you use a poewr source higher than 3V. If you use even higher voltages it will turn yellow and finally blow (dims off and dies)!

The LED used in ericsson phones is a special bi-colour LED not the normal LED you mentioned.
If you put it that way then it's a tri-colour LED!
