Hello from france ! dear Sony ericsson maniacs

i am quite new in this forum.

I have bought sony ericsson s700i phone and i am mostly pleased with it. but unfortunately i have some strange bugs in my call list sometimes

(numbers are disapearing sometimes, or the name of the persons calling me are not shown despite the numbers in the sim card) so i have some questions. if someone can help it would be great :

I need to upgrade my firmware, what codes should i type to see the firmware version of my s700i ?

How can i upgrade the firmware with no cost if possible ?

Is it possible to upgrade the firmware wia bluetooth via a software ?

Thanks a lot in advance for your feedbacks.

To know the firmware version press the navigation keys in the following sequence: right * left left * left * Do this from the standby screen.

If GPRS isn't available try switching off/on your phone, if that doesn't help ring your provider.

Hey guys - I'm on software type R3L002. I have the whole message annoyance thing, where I only receive the 1st part of a 2 part message. It's very frustrating as some of you already know!! I have the opportunity to get my handset replaced with the latest S700i handset and software. By doing this will it resolve the problem???
Thanks

@ Kdskamel
Normal? I wasn't normal on my Siemens ST55, it wasn't normal on my SX1 either. Now I'm stuck with a duff network who can't can't provide an adequate service. My S700i has problems, and if it wasn't for it's damn fine looks I'd trade it in for a younger model anyday...

oops forgot to type!

I replaced my handset hoping to (sneakily) gain latest firmware...

I have to say NO it does not work - although much improved (I am now on R3L002) It still has problems with Bluetooth - I cannot get it to work more than once a day with my Epox. It still randomly reboots for no reason, etc.
I cannot access a cradle so am waiting my chance to visit a SE service centre.
It is very annoying that an otherwise excellent phone is badly let down by substandard software. I know it can be upgraded but why are we accepting this? If I sold a car with a duff engine trading standards would soon be round......wouldnt they???

That's wot I'm talkin bout! U know it. We all know it - SE does suck. It's just we're all too stubborn and 'loyal' to admit it. Their software on the S700i is rubbish. Looks amazing though.
