WAP Browser Speeds |

Using a P800 (with all its glory), I naturally expected the WAP browser to outperform those of other phones considered inferior. I was wrong
Testing a TelMe T919 recently, it was a surprise to find that the T919 browser significantly outdid the P800 in response time, loading pages faster than the P800's. My old T230 (which was just about at par with the M55) was however slower in loading WAP pages than the P800.
What has been your experience with the speed of your WAP browsers? What's the fastest WAP browser you have used?

Out of the phones I've used/owned (t300, t610, k500i), the k500i outdid the other two easily (using the same Vodafone - I know, Vodafone eww - simcard).

My T230's browser is giving of excellent speeds. But i have noticed that some Nokia default browsers are very slow compared to that of my T230.

I recently tested WAP on T630 and 3100 (at different times, but same SIM), and found their speeds to be ok. The more browsers I test, the more frustrated I get with my P800's browser speed.

p800 was released quite a while back though wasnt it? perhaps that explains the sluggish performance.

@geraldsalvador: Maybe. But the T919 is an old witch too, WAP 1.2.1 for that matter. Probably the slowest WAP browser I ever attempted is that of the Nokia 6800. Took ages to load anything.

But can opera be used to surf wap sites? Or only html ones? I'm not sure.

@whizkidd: Sure I can, and I have, but only via CSD, as what I have is a GPRS WAP account. But that is BTW. I am just interested in comparing the performance of various WAP browsers. Thanks
Plus, Opera wont load WAP pages. Just HTML.

My T610 is so fast that it can sweep its own goods to show me a white post.

Interesting, but the Samsung X100 Openwave browser was a joy to use, IMO. And I generally do not like Samsungs :-) Just imagine.

Samsung and their gprs browsers have never worked right with me. I tried to connect to the net using a C100, and was left fuming. I entered all the required settings correctly, but the thing won't work!
