have made a search, maybe not good enough, but couldn´t find any answers to my questions...
i reside in norway, and in the near future i´m making two trips, first to usa, then to china.
want to take advantage of the cheaper prices at these to locations.. want to buy a cool phone or/and ipod/mac/psp.
my questions is:
1-whats generally cheaper, usa og china?
2-are there any compatability issues that can´t be fixed through chipping, or a software update?
thanks in advance!

China should be cheaper. But beware of cheap duplicate stuff when you buy things from there!

get it from china. be warned they make high quality dupiclates. america is too over priced. DO NOT buy phones from america.

U have to get the locals to bring you if u want to buy electrical goods in china. Electrical goods in china are very cheap. I used to ask my brother to buy for me things like high quality dvds movies (RMB10), portable dvd player, karaoke player stuffed with more than 20,000 songs in it (about US$280). |

China will be cheaper than USA...
Get DVD/VCD/Fridge... and those big appliances/gadget in China... they are cheap and yes you have to be careful of fake stuff.
Small gadget wise... like phone/CD/MD/MP3 player/blue tooth headset... are you going to stop by Hong Kong? Get them here, it is cheaper than China. But we do not have the V800 though. |

ok. great. thanks for helpful advice concerning the price issue..
but what about the compatability issue? as i said, i live in norway. are there many triband phones for sale in china at the moment? will they work equally well in europe as in asia?
Playstation poratable won´t work in the same way here in europe, right?
how much do the ipod 60gb cost in china? (if there are any chinese people in this forum) |

Hmmm...I don't know about compatability of the stuff, but an ipod wont be cheaper in china. Maybe if you get a china made equivalent of the ipod, it will be cheaper. |

yeah!!.. when i went to hong kong i saw lots of gadgets that had the similar design to the original designs!!!!
i've bought a couple of phones from HK and they all work in calling people and texting people wise that is BUT... because they were phones that where either not out in Britain or a phone that was not heard of in this country.... i couldnt send pictures messages because the networks didnt have the settings for that phone!....
so to put it simply.... it will work... if you are just using the phone for calling people and texting (providing that it is triband i think!)
however, wot really ticks my brain is that what happens if i get a phone that is released in our "home" country but purchased from a different country? will they have the same settings? will i be able to get the GPRS settings as they have the settings for the phone because it is released here!? or will the settings be different so that the British settings will not be compatible???
AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH..... my brain is hurtiing!!
please.. anyone .... please help!! |

ooooOOO... i just tried to setup me GPRS settings on me Korean Phone in England... and i can browse with GPRS.... however i gotta wait till 48 hours to see if i can send pics!!.. fiongers crossed!!.. if i can send pics after the 48 hours then it will answer your questiuon bout compatibility.. i think!!...i hope!...
anyways wish me luck ! |

by the way!!..... good news!!... my fone can now send pics!!... and its a phone that was from HK so theres your answer to the question!!.. at least i hope this is the same for all other fones etc!!... i got a digital camera last time i went to HK and that is working beautifully!!! so all is good....
if you are looking for cheap things then i guess if you know where to look then you will find it much much cheaper in china / Hong Kong!... if you purchase items from some places it can be much dearer!... whereas if you look hard enough you will find it much cheaper!.... but then the HK dollars or chinese dollar (wotever the currency) is about 1 sterling to 15 HK dollars.... but thats only to the sterling and only compared to HK... you will have to check the currency rate in Norway or wherever!!..
hope i helped, but i think i babbled abit too much! oh well! |

U can never buy anything that's cheaper in the world than CHINA. If u can't buy it cheaper in china, your chances are u'll never be able to buy it cheaper in anywhere else. Not even hong kong.
