I dont know if this is old news (if it is I appologize) but SE.com now has P800 banner adds on all of its pages. They seem to be pushing this product very hard especialy compared to its other soon to be released phones which are barely even mentioned on the site (u have to dig throguh comming soon to find them).

This heavy marketing push seems to strongly indicate a release dat within the next month or so. I wouldnt bet against an early september release but I would not coulnt out a late july or very early august release.

The kinds of marketing they are doing for the p800 on their own site is indicative of thier need to raise awareness for the product directly previous to launch so that they can get good begining sales numbers. Also they are probably feelign presure from nokia's 7650 which is now on the street. People who are in the market for a high end communicator and cant wait very well may end up buying the 7650 if the p800 doesnt come out with in the next 4-6 weeks, and SE must know that. I actualy considered buying a 7650 (and if uve read either of my other posts i am a DIE HARD p800 fan) simply because it is available NOW and I HATE waiting. That is a feelign Im sure many of you and a very high percentage of early adopters (the primary market segment that is goign to purchase this product) feel, peopel who love high end technology hate waiting (weve grown used to it but we dont like it) SE KNOWS this and will try their damndest not to wait to long before releasing this device.

In any case as usual my post is long as hell and ramblign btu I jsut thought the SE site being blanketed in p800 ads was VERY good news for all of us out there awaiting the most powerful communicator on the horizon.

I think the ads on the SE site have been there for at least a week.
Also I wouldn't read too much into some banner ads on their site.
There's been no other advertising yet for this product (I've seen no TV ads, or magazine pictures). When you think about it the % of advertising gained by a banner on their site is practically nothing.

The main reason I think they'll hold off until Sept is the recent advertising of the t68i (at least here in the UK). With MMS coming out and the camera add-on I think they'll want to maximise on the t68i for a while longer.

As for being a techno wannabe I think that can be a dangerous road to follow. How many ppl were gutted after buying a t68 ASAP, only to have the t68i come out not long after? I'm personally gonna force myself to wait 1-2mths after the P800 comes out.
That way I can read some realistic reviews (ie not based on hype) and see if there are any problems. The price will also come down a fair bit as X-mas approaches (& a lot after X-mas).

That's my opinion too. Let's not get confused, P800 is not a direct competitor to 7650 only because they are in the same size and were announced at approximately the same time.

T68i + Communicam is the direct competitor, let's face it. 7650 can't do anything more than what T68i + Communicam can achieve. That's why is advertising so heavily with T68i + Communicam alongside Nokia's 7650 ads.

As soon as P800 is released, it's a complete new ball-game since 7650 is no match against P800, no touchscreen, no advanced PDA functions, no memory-expansion slot, come on! Who are we kidding, P800 is in a complete new category, it competes against Nokia's 9210. That phone alongside P800 are in the same mobile-segment, they target the same consumers.

I don't think that P800 should be hurried to release sooner than September, since that would be a huge mistake. The last thing wants to do is to quicken the product-development phase and release an unfinished and buggy product that completely vanishes the confidence among hardcore and newly won SonyEricsson fans.
