Publishing group Pan Macmillan is using Hypertag interactive posters in a promotional campaign for their title, Teen Idol. The system encourages 10-14 year olds to interact with outdoor poster advertising for the book.
Six sheet bus shelter posters fitted with infra-red Hypertags are positioned in strategic locations in the UK. Participants point their mobile phones toh the poster to receive a voucher on their phones telling them if they’ve won one of the prizes on offer including a shopping spree, lip balms, book samplers and screen savers.

They should use BT instead of IR imo
@50 - it'll be the ones in front of which there's a queue of people waiting for their turn to use the interactive features

I have seen one at Liverpool street station and that paticular one had a small red light on the right hand side of the board.

This can be enhanced by using Bluetooth. You no longer need to point your mobile to download and/or get connected with the billboard. Kameleon, website http://www.kameleon-europe.com, has been working on bluetooth enhancement for 4 years now and offer now a "one click" solution, fast, robust and with a long battery life (up to 2 years). |

Bluetooth Billboards.....
Posters and screens are great at conveying a message but they're fixed. Bluetooth allows them to make that message mobile and allows it to be carried around by consumers, reports Protein Feed in an interesting article on Bluetooth used in advertising, or more accurately,BlueCasting, which is permission-based.
"It's also a huge technology leap forward, because some people have used infra-red to beam content to mobiles from posters – but you need direct line-of-sight and it can only work with one person at a time. With Bluetooth, you don't need to ask people to point the phone at the poster, you can broadcast the information and lots of people can download the information at the same time."
Indeed Hypertag, the company arguably most associated with infra-red transmitters in posters, has recently launched its first Bluetooth campaign for Warner Bros. The posters for New Order's latest album are placed in HMV shop windows, allowing people passing to download an MP3 track from the album".
