Some bad news breaking this afternoon for nokia.
The N-Gage has dropped off the charts, literally. The Entertainment & Leisure Software Publishers Association decided this week to stop publishing the figures for sales of the cellphone gaming device and its games, compiled by ChartTrack. ChartTrack had this to say about the decision.
Quote:
| The N-Gage chart, though still produced, is of little interest to anyone. Sales of the machine and its software have failed to make any impact on the market at all. We still keep sales charted and are available on monthly, quarterly and annual reports, though we have dropped the platform from the ELSPA chart following a lack of interest. |

The ngage fills a vacum. lt definitely has a market. It really doesnt matter; convergence devices will continue to gain ground. That, dear friends, is the truth. It is the future. |

why did they even bother to put it in the charts in the first place?
the N-gage failed and so did the QD version.
the device isn't advanced enough. you don't get a good value for money.
games are hard to find and expencive.
apperence and feeling (holding it in your hand, calling with it sideways) are just bad.
and i think the market wasn't fully ready for such a device.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

Criteria/requirements change from time to time. I guess they just changed them again.
The Ngage may not have done so well, but it was a bold step. Hopefully, it will be a step in the ladder of mobile device evolution.

But you cant miss out on the fact that ngage is the cheapest symbian. It offers gr8 value for money at two thirds the price of a K500i.

Good point I was going to point out too. I have been griping about changing my P800, but discovered it wasn't because I really needed to change it. I was plain bored with it (happens all the time with me).
Unfortunately, seems I'm hooked on Symbian. Pocket's also a little lean now. So, guess what i'm thinking? The N-Gage: Symbian, FM Radio, GPRS, Bluetooth, expandable memory, infra-red, USB, Email. A fracvtion of the cost of anything else I am interested in.
What am I waiting for?

i see your point and agree with you, but do you REALLY want to be seen walking down the street looking like you are talking into a dinner plate?
could it be the reason the ngage flopped was because the nokia boys werent used to having so many features packed into one device, they were scared of its power?

It's great in concept, but in reality who's going to pay £29.99 for a game that can only be played on a tiny screen with nowhere near enough resolution.
And it's not that great to use as a phone either.
So like i said, nice idea just poorly executed. With a little more thought and a better design and screen it would really be a nice little phone. |

I think the main problem is that the N-Gage is a mediocre phone (No camera, etc..) and a mediocre gaming device.
People simply weren't interested in it.

That's you just poking fun at the Nokia boys. Quite a few Nokia phones do have many features packed into them. I'm thinking of other series 60s, the Communicators, and the new series 90. The great differentiating factor here is the GameBoy approach - which in my opinion is classic Nokia. I mean, many (not all; not most) of their phones look like they are targeted primarilly at teens No offense meant to Nokia users.

Maybe it's about time to buy the Nokia Ngage - QD, before it's too late !
