Voice Dialling Problem - Anyone can help? |

Fellow T68i folks!
I've recently purchased the T68i with preinstalled SW rev R2A014. After a couple of weeks toying around with the features, I found a problem. The voice dialling is not working properly. Apparently, it only works on one contact number I have on the phone - it didn't work for the rest! I know this is weird, but here's the experiment that I've carried out :-
1. Record voice dialling for Jane as "Jane".
2. Held down YES button and spoke "Jane" after the beep. The phone
played back "Jane". It dialled perfectly.
3. Record voice dialling for Angie as "Angie".
4. Held down YES button and spoke "Angie" after the beep. The phone
played back "Angie", and just idled. No calls were made!
5. I tried other contacts in the list and they all suffer the same problem
except Jane. Don't ask me why.. there's nothing special about Jane
and she's not my girlfriend. Seriously, I think there's a problem
with my phone.
6. Next, I recorded voice dialling for Jane as "Angie" and it works! It
dialled perfectly showing that there's something different in the
contact "Jane" and not the problem with the voice recorded.
Anyone has any clues, pls let me know. Is it a SW rev problem? Can anyone try this out and let me know if you see the same problem?

Hi there! I'v also xperiencd that prblm wd my phone too, although mine is a t39. What i did to solve that prblm is transfer/ create duplicate entries in d phonebook for the cntacts wd voice dialling prblems. Then erase d voice commands assignd 2 d orgnal cntacts. Fter dat, assign voice cmands 2 d duplicate entries. If it works, u cud den erase d original entries. I think d prblm here is nt due 2 software bugs, but some hardware imperfections (whatevr dat is!).

Shucks! If that's a hardware bug, then I got to get a replacement set right away! Mine is just 2 weeks old |

Yup! I think u should go to a se srvice cnter nd hav it cheked right away. Mine was rplaced already due to dat prblem. I stil hav d same prblm wd my rplacement unit but only wd 3 cntact entries. After creatng d duplcate entries though, my unit works prfectly. In the meantime, u cud try d solution i posted b4 dis and see if it works 4 u.

Simmilar bug happens even with the newest R5C001 bug. I was hoping so much for getting rid of this anoying bug:
When the voice-dial memory is close to being full (around 35-40 voice commands), and I record a voice command for a contact, the voice sample gets stored, but when I check, the little bubble won't appear next to the person's name. The voice sample isn't linked to the contact, but it takes up space from the voice memory, and what's ever worse: it cannot be cleared.
How do I know it's stored? Well, when I start voice dial, and say the name, the phone will recognise and repeat the name, but then it will do nothing, I mean it won't start dialing. Only lets out some error beep.
There is an even more anoying variation to this bug: sometimes when I record a voice command to a contact, the voice is linked to a different contact, overwriting their original voice. It's also hard to fix this, I need to remove the contact, because this falsely linked voice cannot be removed in the normal ways.
----
This bug is around since R2B, the first fw version I got the 68i with. I did a few master resets, rerecorded my voice commands a couple of times, but it always happens when I get near the end of the voice memory.
Please let me know if any of you bumped into this problem! Or is this specific to my unit? Should I try getting a replacement, or it will not help? Thx.
