Hullo everyone,

Currently, I can access VF Live! AU and its services through my Z1010, using my Vodafone Red Sim. I can also access webpages through the mobile by entering the URL via the 'Enter URL' menu command.

I am having difficulties accessing the web on the computer though, with the mobile acting as a modem through USB. I'm using the Mobile Networking Wizard. It connects, and it assigns me an IP, but I cannot access any webpages. When I do a tracert, it can only ping the first hop only (192.0.8.22 or similar).

I suspect there may be an issue with it may being not be able to tunnel the connection through the Vodafone HTTP proxy as designated in the profile.

Would anyone have any more information or solutions on this?

Cheers!
Afurotsu.

@Afurotsu!

What are imputing as a number to dial? You may be using the wrong data account on your mobile. You should be using the following 'number':

*99***CIDx*#

The 'x' corrsponds to the number of the appropriate data account on your mobile. The data accounts are numbered from '1', starting with the top acocool in the list on your mobile, working down. The data account you should be using shouldn't have 'Wap' or 'MMS' in the title.

I was using *99***2# before. I changed it to *99***CID2*#, and it still has the same outcome of no web .

These both correspond to 'VF Live! AU'.

It can connect, just no access.

@Afurotsu!

Try using one of the other data accounts then. If you are using a firewall, you may find that disabling it helps.

Vodafone pre-paid in Australia only uses one data account, the one that I'm trying to use now.

Also, I don't think external sites are blocked, since I can access them perfectly through my phone browser.

@619

I've never heard of Vodafone limiting access to just their own portal.

@Afurotsu!

Have you checked with Vodafone to see whether or not you are able to use a Pay As You Go mobile as a modem? They may only allow this with monthly contracts.

hi, as long as u have an internet APN (which PAYT doesnt have) u can use the phone as a modem... This is info from the UK side but globally we r pretty much the same so it looks like u cant use the PAYT sim to acess the internet on the PC.

Hope this helps. in a strangley un helpful way.

So there's no way that you can somehow tunnel the connection through the WAP interface?

I remember reading someone did it on an O2 connection I think, and that the user successfully downloaded something like 1GB, because WAP GPRS was free...
