SE HBH-200 Bluetooth Headset - Can't get it to work |

Recently got the Sony Ericsson HBH-200 Bluetooth Headset.
Nice bit of kit ........ if the damn thing would work!!!
I swith it on, and as the manual says, the screen displays a scrolling message saying "Ready to add - prepare phone"
When I put my phone (T39m and P910i) in discovery mode they do not see the HBH-200.
If I put either one of the phones in Pairing Mode, again they do not see the phone.
Afer a while the phone reads "Failed" and automatically switches off.
As an experiment I tried to see if my laptop would see the device but that didn't work either.
I have read the manual and other Forum posts which say that you can press the On button and the Dial/Call button on the side simultaneously and this should allow you to enter a Menu whereby you would be able to reset the HBH-200 headset.
I tried that too, but it doesn't work. What I did notice is that it is not possible to press the two buttons at EXACTLY the same time - well, at least I couldn't, I always found that one button got pressed fractionally sooner than the other. Maybe that's the problem?
So does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

return it, and get it replaced I had the same problem with mine and after tampering with it for a while I got fed up and sent it back to the dealer and after a week they sent me another one,and it works perfectly! with no problems at all!

I was having the same problem, when trying to change the phone it was attached to.
what i did was ...
switch on
press on and dial buttons together to access menu
the 1st option displayed is ring tone
press +
2nd option is add new phone, press dial
switch on your phone's bluetooth
press dial on handsfree thingy
back to phone - search new devices
bingo - will see your handsfree - add it, and your sorted.
Hope it works ok for you.

Thanks guys for your responses.
The issue has now been resolved: it was simply faulty.
Got it changed under warranty.
But now I have a new problem. A common problem I know.
Basically, it is no longer working because the thin wire that leads to the air piece has worked itself loose and is shorting so if I move slightly whilst talking it cuts off and I get no sound.
I might send it back again to get the earpiece replaced.
