Hi,
I was wondering if I buy a 3G phone, is it possible to listen to Internet radio or look at streaming video?

Definitely Yes, it can be operator's selling point, not mainly a technical problem.
Realone is already on Nokia. M$ phone has Windows Media player. Hope to see real player on Sony Ericsson in the future. |

As far as I know Nokia has paid for Real player to be for them exclusivly, so I dont think we will ever see it for  phones.

@lucas...as far as i know,all umts phones are more than capable f audio/video streaming mate.

You also need to have it 3g enabled. I.e your operator should give you 3g. Else i dont think so. (Sorry if it was obvious that you are taking a 3g connection.)

Agree with you jcwhite. It's again cooperations and agreements between companies.
Real will not be on Sony Ericsson unless it starts with the same strategy as Opera, but streaming will be always supported in a 3G phone by either its built in browser/player or another party's software. |

I looked into this matter a bit and it looks like the phone doesn't support http streams (like http mp3 streams, which are extremely common), but only rtsp streams, which are extremely rare. So: in theory yes, in practice you've got to do it yourselve. Plus with the current data prices, it won't come cheap neither  |
