128mb is the largest memory stick duo, currently 1gb is the largest available memory stick PRO duo. unfortunately the S700 can only use the memory stick duo so the max is 128mb

lets put it this way... it took Sony only 3 years to get from 4mb to 128mb and its now around 4-5 years since the 128mb was announced so without considering that the technical specs limit the standard memory stick and memory stick duo to 128mb I am sure Sony would have come up with a solution in the last 5 years if they could have
the best that has happened is that they did the memory stick select which has two banks of 128mb which you must switch manually. Thats been around for a couple of years or so but I have not seen that in duo size yet
PRO memory sticks are the only way ahead now I guess

I agree with masseur. I think Sony will drive the DUO PRO memory sticks in upcoming mobile devices and we won't see any higher regular duos anymore. Also prices dropped for it, so my guess is they try to clear out inventory. I got a 128mb duo for US$38l

Actually SONY do a 1 Gig Memory Stick, rather expensive though, I've seen them at several airports. I guess a duo one won't be available untill the decide how mcuh to rip us all off for it.
Sony unfortunately are a little over priced and the quality of some of thier stuff is not so hot.
I had a sony Vaio laptop that crapped out after 6 months, I had to have it repaired, took 4 months and by that time the chip was out of date. Also had a Sony DVD with surround sound that went tits up after 3 weeks, and now my SE P910i that has locked me out on the touch screen. Think I'll buy a dog. |

What's really annoying is that people say that the S710a can use the PRO ones,if that's true than SE has to make sure the S700i will be able to use them in the near future.
