Managed to break my phone when I fell on it while I was snowboarding, O2 sent me a new K700i a day after I made the claim, saying that a standard fee of £25 would be charged to my next bill. OK, fair enough.
The phone arrived in a strange Sony Ericsson box that I'd never seen before, and I had to put my old faulty phone with the battery into it and give it back to the delivery man. I took the new phone, along with the charger, and a strange user guide that has no acknolwedgement to SE or anything on the front. The box was also not sealed and didn't contain any accessories or anything.
I thought that was strange, but didn't think it was a big deal. Then I plugged the phone into be charged - no response at all. I try it with my sisters BLD-3 battery and the phone works with no problems, although I get a strange crackle sound everytime the speaker plays a sound. So I'm wondering, do O2 give out refurbished handsets for insurance claims? Anyone else ever thought the same thing?
Also, the phone doesn't contain all of the pre-installed SE stuff, limited ringtones, only Waip as the theme and only SuperRealTennis as the game, just the same as what would happen to the phone if you flashed it with new firmware. Interesting thing is though, I bought my phone directly from O2 and it had the O2 firmware, and I couldn't use the SE update service, this handset has the generic SE firmware with My Friends and everything.
I've been on the phone to O2, and they're sending me a new phone, but I won't receive it until the 4th Jan now because of the time of year.
