Hi everygody, today i started to share some files by bluetooth with my k700i, and when i received a wav format file, the phone recognised it, though it is unable to play it.
I've tried to play other files and i get the same error. Isn't K700i supposed to support .wav files?
If anyone can help me, i will apreciate

Appart from the fact that there are some limits on the sound sampling frequency, you should also understand that a wav file is only a definition of a standard file structure. That is, it tells how the information is stored in the file, but not how the sound is recorded or compressed. A wav file comprises a header followed by the binary info that stores the sound itself. In the header, you will find all sorts of info (sampling frequency, number of channels, compression type, etc) that will enable you to read the sound data itself. But if the sound is compressed, the player needs to know how to decompress it. And there are hundreds of different compression schemes. Unfortunately, if the appropriate piece of software for decompression is not present in the phone memory, the phone won't be able to play it.
I really wonder if I am clear?

I believe the sampling freq limit is 16khz. Anything more and it will not play. Also, wav files cannot be set as ringtones. :-(

I also think the sound type has to be pure PCM, without any type of compression or companding.

Don't say that, I am a scientist! And a scientist has to be non-understandable, otherwise it is not a good scientist

Anyway......... instead of using WAV, why don't you use MP3?

Yup. I converted the wav tones to mp3. A scientist should explain things as simple as possible, so that a layman can understand it.

Hi michka
Can you tell me which software will play most of the wav compressed files. Someone told me that Real Player will play these files. So before trying i thought i will ask the gurus here.

Uhmm.. I dont think you can install real player on a k700i. You can play it on your PC simply via WMP though. And if you really want to have it on your phone, just use dbPoweramp to convert it and your good.
P.S. the s700 shares the same 16khz wav playback limit. it kinda sucks.
