Recently, moto has been aggresive on promoting their products and I must say, they are producing much better phones than nokia and to some extent SE in terms of features and design, and are certainly ahead of Samsung. I think they have the best polyphonic ring tones/mp3 tones at least. What do you guys think?

i always thought motos looked amazing, esp. the stunning v3 my only gripe has been with the software it is totally crap!
i admit the last time i had a proper play with one was about 6 months ago (c something i think) have they improved the insides on the newer phones (v3 etc)? [addsig]

my only recent experience of Motorola is the V3 and I find the interface quite intuitive and very customisable

I find myself watching to see what Motorola are coming up with next so yes, I think they have caught my attention once again

On paper, they are. When it comes to the real mobile phone, they're still very far behind. Sure, some have a slick design, but looks don't always reflect the performance of the phone.

Motorola phones need improvement.

My friend recently got an imported vodaphone branded moto phone(cant remember the model ). It has a vga cam, but the quality was excellent, even when taken in the dark, unlike SE K700 which takes horrible pics in low light conditions . The display was sharp and clear, so were the ringtone quality. The only putdown was the bulky size and less memory.

And when i went to buy my k700, i asked the guys at the shop to suggest a good phone with cam and stuff and they suggested the moto. The only problem with moto is the UI imo.

I still remember the day when moto launched thier 1st phone as we term it today as 'tupperware phone'. They were the so called 'big brother' in terms of mobile communication, with a 'james bond briefcase' lookalike carrying case/charger. Since then, they have lacked behind other players like nokia, samsung, siemens and se of course. But since the launched of newer models, we can see that moto is doing their part to get back what used to belong to them. I must say say that the phone they launched have caught my attention not only in terms of look(design), knowing that looks can be deceiving, but also phones that are loaded with features as well. Apart fro v3, the phones are also very competitively priced.

I think that feature wise and construction wise moto has always been good. But i will not use a moto until they hire humans to design the ui instead of aliens. Their menues and ui are 100% counter intuitive.

Thatīs what i used to think after borrowing to 1990:s Motorola phones..
Today itīs totally different! If you can manage a SE or Siemens, youīll get along just fine with Moto UI!
Oh, and SENokia: Could you please elaborate? Thatīs got to be one of the most fuzzy non factual posts i have read this week

This Motorola MPx is amazing. The design is much better than Nokia 9500 and the features are much better than SE P910 (it has Wi-Fi, 1.3 MP camera, horizontal or vertical layout). Looks much like a small notebook while Nokia 9500 is too long in horizontal length to call a small notebook...

Here is a copy from http://www.bargainpda.com/?newsID=1908

Motorola has officially unveiled its upcoming Smartphone devices at the 3GSM World Congress in Cannes France. The device we were referring to as the MPx300 turns out to be called simply the Motorola MPx. The MPx looks to be a very different type of phone that offers the user a horizontal or vertical alignment when being used and will include Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Tri-band GSM/GPRS, SD slot, 320x240 2.8 inch screen, 1.3 MP integrated camera and a QWERTY layout keyboard. We hear it might also come equipped with a built in hand/hair dryer to squelch any perception there was a feature left out.

The Motorola MPx Smartphone in a horizontal position

The Motorola MPx will come with 64MB of built in RAM and the SD slot will offer up to 1GB of storage expansion and will run the Microsoft Pocket PC Phone Edition OS. As you can see from these pictures, the device isn't exactly tiny and is more on par in size with the XDA Phone devices on the market, but this thing literally come with just about every feature you'd need. It will be interesting to see how the keyboard rates, it looks like it could take some getting used to.

The MPx100 should fill the niche for the smaller type device Smartphones that people want.

Thanks to PPCW.net (http://www.ppcw.net/images/live/3gsm/) and PocketPCItalia.com (http://www.pocketpcitalia.com/3gsm_2004_2.asp) for pictures and reporting from Cannes on this news.

Well, as said before, the Moto's specs look great on paper, as does the MPx. But just read howardforums or other user reviews of the MPx. Noone recommends the MPx, because it's full of bugs and there seemed to be many more wrong with the phone. The ones who used it are very very disappointed with it. Better get a MDA Compact.

@deuxani: I'll take a look at those reviews & forums. I fell in love with the looks & feature-set of the MPx. Shame if Moto lets us down on actal performance (as has become their custom in recent years)
