Does anyone know what the 'On' feature in the phones BT menu achieves? It puts a small BT icon on the phones screen and the blue LED flashes, but thats all. The phone does not become discoverable to my PC untill I select 'discverable'.

I was hoping that with Bt on, as soon as the phone came into range of my PC, they would 'find' each other automatically.

Any help appreciated!

The 'On' option in the menu is for paired devices. Once you have paired your phone with another device, such as a notebook for example, selecting the 'On' state will make your phone visible to any devices with which it is paired without having to make it discoverable as making it discoverable only happens in time frames of 3 minutes which are renewable but extremely annoying.

Pairing your phone with another enabled device is the way to go. Highly recommended.

Hope this helps.

They do find each other automatically if you have paired them, but it depend very much on the Driver that the manufacturer provide. For my TDK i think it is almost perfect as i do not need intervent each time they come into range.

My program use a dirty method, it always try to reconnects at a specific, if it is in range then it will managed to reconnect. But somehow the driver can't seems to take it, sometime they will just not able to communicate anymore till i unplug the PCMCIA and reinsert.

My feeling is, BT today is not matured, we just have to bear with it for sometime as we are considered the early birds

I'm looking forward for Microsoft to support BT nativelly, and that will change a lot of things.

Cheers,
