hi,
I have just got one of these awesome phones but I want some new games and stuff. I previously had a samsung phone and I had a data cable which i used to download ringtones and other stuff. do i need a data cable for this phone? i dont wanna use the net or that wap crap on the phone - too expensive.
i downloaded a few games from here http://sek700.ic.cz/. they are jar files whatever they are but i dont think they are english java games. so any other sites that has free games and ringtones?
thanks for all help! |

Welcome to Esato
If u don't want to use the phones capabilities then u need to transfer items from your PC. The options are:
-Data cable (slow, inconvenient but reliable)
-InfraRed adapter (slow, inconvenient but wireless)
-Bluetooth adapter (fastest, very convenient but not as stable as other two)
My personal choice would be a BT adapter for your PC due to the speed & convenience.
The .jar files are java installers. Simply send them to the phone and the game will install automatically.

thats great thanks. bluetooth adaptors are pretty expensive arent they? I think I will just stick to the data cable. Also, know any sites that have free downloads?
thanks again. |

@rumpel - that site you mentioned has all full version games and at least 95% of them are in english. Only the site is in a different language. Most of my games are from that site. You might want to check out
http://www.mobile9.com
they have a k700 games section with 750 games !
You can use DateiManager -
http://k700.hitziger.net
to upload games via USB cable. Its faster than FMA imo.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence of your attempt !! |

I think a Bluetooth adaptor will cost less than a Sony Ericsson Data Cable.
Either way you install the included software (for my k700 the version on the CDROM that was included with the phone just did not work, I downloaded a nrewer version from the SE website and that works).
If you install the 'file manager' you'll have a new item in the 'my computer' window - or the tree at the left, in which you can brows. Then drag-drop your jar-file on the 'phone memory'. Phone will ask where to install - games or applications. Choose whatever.
I want to mention als www.k-700.com also as a fine source of games and applications etc. |

thanks for all the suggestions, some great sites out there. One last thing, are all bluetooth pc adaptors pretty much the same, so I dont need a specific one or anything? There are alot of different ones on ebay! |
